1 Samuel 17:27-50

Defeating Goliath's

Over the years we all have read the scriptures of David and Goliath. and that very task of this young David defeating such a man elevated him to be the great King of Gods people. But the one important fact that made David such a success is not only that he walk strongly in his Faith but his Attitude in both Love and Faith brought his great success in the eyes of God inspite of his failures. If we recall in 1Samuel 16 God sends the prophet Samuel to the house of Jesse the Bethlehemite to seek the new King of Israel amongst his sons. keep in mind that Samuel first seeked by outward appearance but God seeked in the heart. Let me expound on the subject matter the one thing that David displayed early in his life was the attitude of gratitude, which simply means that he displayed thankfulness, love, faithfulness and believed in the great Jehovah with his all heart. To simple say David is known to all as the man that cherished the heart of God. Henceforth allow me the opportunity to ask the question have you ever faced a Giant in your Life? As I pose this question it is clear that our Father in Heaven allows situations and circumstances to occur in this journey called life to display that he is All-powerful in everything and also that he is on our side. As I move forward in this message it is clear that we have first understand that our attitude determines our altitude in life. We have utilizes these key points:

1. Don't judge a book by its cover

2. Be Confident in your Faith

3. Posse Courage to face your Giants

As we read in this passage how Jesse sent David with grain and loaves to his brothers while they were encamped at war. And when he arrived at the campground he overheard the men talking about their fear to go up against Goliath the giant philistine. He question the men about who is this uncircumcised Philistine that defies our living God. Eliab his brother became upset and approached first chastising him for being prideful to come to war grounds and leave the sheep unattended. Now in that statement first of all Eliab judged to quickly. the men even look at David's young age and size as he spoke of their fear to face their enemy Goliath. Saul even looked upon the lad as if he had lost his mind to say I will go forth and defeat this Giant that defies our Living God. Yet even Goliath laughed at the very sight of David. Now think about you are in battle campgrounds and men that are to be protecting your people are afraid to face their enemy yet these men proclaim to believe in the living God. Wouldn't you look at them the same way that David did surprised at how much little faith they posses in thy great Jehovah. But let us look at from Gods point of view he takes the ordinary and creates the extraordinary when we face battles. Jesus makes it clear regarding little faith which displays judging by the cover. For instance in

Matthew 6:30 (KJV)

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Matthew 8:26 (KJV)

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Matthew 14:31 (KJV)

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Matthew 16:8 (KJV)

Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

Each of these verses Jesus expresses the same point as David did before the men in the campground, his brothers, Saul and even Goliath for each of theses judged the book by its cover. Think about it you are facing a situation in your life that threatens your entire household do you coward and question your worth or do you stand tall despite how giant the situation is and believe in your heart that our great and mighty God is going to deliver you in the midst of it all. Understand that is how David defeated Goliath by his attitude of gratitude.

Let me define the attitude of Faith is not a feeling, it is not fear, it is not a fluff, it is not a fad, nor is it foolish but Faith is an active confidence in our Father in Heaven who reveals his unveiling love in each of us just as he did with David when he defeated the Lion, defeated the Bear, and defeated Goliath. The success of David wasn't just in the battle he fought but in how strong he stood in his Faith. See everyone has faith which is the capacity to trust and believe in the almighty. Understand that we cannot live without it for our attitude of faith brings about our ultimate difference in our walk in Jesus Christ. Therefore our lives reflect our faith when we place our confidence in God as it states is Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. See substance and evidence are words that is the prescription solution of our Faith. For example in today we can simply make purchases, pay bills online with no question that the transaction is complete but by relying on a simple confirmation number to give us substance that the payment is complete. This the same in our spiritual relationship with God when we pray to him regarding circumstances that we face which are Giants yet we believe deeply that God will defeat the situation or circumstance through Faith. When you look at the letters in the word Faith each has a positive meaning;
