Could You Not Pray With Me One Hour

Could you not pray with me one hour?

I would like for us to read this account in the 4 gospels in which it is recorded.

Matt. 26:36, Mark 14:32, Luke 22:39, John 18:1

Mark 14:32-42

In these passages we can see the mission of the church age.

I. Verse 32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

A. This could be a picture of Jesus setting up the church. Remember in John 17 we see a beautiful picture of Christ praying for the church. Right before this scene of Him in the Garden.

B. Jesus is instituting His Church setting it up for His departure into heaven.

C. Jesus is also Sanctifying His church.

II. Verse 34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

A. Jesus has placed us here to Watchmen.

B. What is the job of a watchman?

C. Ezekiel 33 has a job discription.

III. Verse 37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

When the Lord comes back will he find us sleeping? Could you not pray with me one Hour?]
