Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

And He said, No [neither], but as Prince of the Lord’s host have I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, What says my Lord to His servant?

Joshua 5:14 (King James Version)

A. The LORD JESUS CHRIST will introduce Himself to us.

"And He said, No [neither], but as Prince of the Lord’s host have I now come."

Usually this is done in EGR (Encounter GOD Retreat), where we can encounter and meet GOD in a supernatural way, He reveals Himself to us in unique and distinct way respecting our personality, characters and upbringing. The LORD JESUS CHRIST is the Super Gentleman that does this very subtle, in love so that we will not fear Him.

In our example here, because Joshua is a warrior, the LORD JESUS CHRIST introduces Him as the captain so Joshua can relate to Him.

ILLUSTRATION:

In my experience, the LORD JESUS CHRIST introduces Himself in a supernatural way causing me to hear His voice like any other voice, with mighty signs, wonders and miracles because when I was still an unbeliever, I'm involved in witch craft and occultism. That's how JESUS our LORD, MASTER and SAVIOR introduces Himself to us.

Hebrews 2:10 (Amplified Bible)

For it was an act worthy [of God] and fitting [to the divine nature] that He, for Whose sake and by Whom all things have their existence, in bringing many sons into glory, should make the Pioneer of their salvation perfect [should bring to maturity the human experience necessary to be perfectly equipped for His office as High Priest] through suffering.

Some notable introductions of the LORD JESUS CHRIST to different believers:

1. As a Rabbie to Nicodemus - because Nicodemus is a rabbi.

John 3:1-3 (Amplified Bible)

NOW THERE was a certain man among the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler (a leader, an authority) among the Jews,

Who came to Jesus at night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know and are certain that You have come from God [as] a Teacher; for no one can do these signs (these wonderworks, these miracles—and produce the proofs) that You do unless God is with him.
