Summary: A challenge to God’s children to remain faithful in spite of their surroundings.

Introduction: The writer of the book we are coming from is the prophet Daniel. He is

a royal descendent, most likely a prince. He is taken captive in the 1st Babylonian Exile

in 605 B.C., and remained in exile for the entire length. Daniel writes in a time that is

diffuculty for God’s chosen people because they were receiving punishment for doing wrong in the sight of the Lord. Even in the midst of trials, we find that God still has someone to stand between the gap of God and man, and Daniel is this man. As in Daniel’s day, God is calling for someone to stand up and be his servant, to sing the Lord’s song in a strange land. Devil’s world: 2 Corinthians 4:4 " In whom the god of

this world hath blinded the minds of them that believeth not,";

John 14:30 " Hereafter I will not talk much with you; for the prince of this world cometh, and have nothing in me."

1. Foreigner in the Kingdom(vs.3)-"that he should bring certain of the children of Israel"

A. Teachings(vs.4)"whom they may teach the learning and tongue of the Chaldeans"

The king first wanted to change the way they thought, and if you can do that then he could change their walk, and talk.

B. Temptions(vs.5)"the king appointed them daily provision of the king’s meat and of the wine which he drank";

2. Forsaking of the Kids(vs.8)-"Daniel proposed in his heart that he would not defile himself"

A. Tradition(vs.4)"Children skillful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge";The children must had parents that taught them the word of God. "Train up a child in the way he should go"

B. Treasure(vs.4)"Children in whom was no blemish"; They wouldn’t defile themselves because they knew they are God’s treasure. 1 Cor. 6:15 says our bodies are members of Christ, 1 Cor. 6:19 says our bodies are temple inhabited by Holy Ghost. 1 Peter 2:9, says"Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that should show the praises of him who called you out of darkness into the marvelous light".

3. Fulfilment of the King(vs.15)-The fulfillment of the world’s meat will last a few days, but the fulfillment of God is sweeter, better, and longer than that of the worlds. So wait on the Lord, and be of good courage for he shall strength the heart, and direct thy path
