We find here 7 of the disciples as John opens the narrative.

-It would appear that Peter had given up on the Lord.

-He did not know what was next.

-He did not know the plan that God had for him.

-Peter went back to what he knew…fishing.

-It has been his livelihood.

-He was going back…not forward.

-Did he think there was nothing left?

B. Peter took his friends with him

--We always want to take others with us.

--That way we can say “Well, I wasn’t the only one”.

C. Peters was unproductive and unfruitful.

-No blessing

-No help

-No fruit.

II. Peter’s recognition. Vs 4-7

A. Jesus was there, but they did not recognize Him.

-He asked them the common question “Have you caught anything”?

-They did not recognize his voice.

B. They recognized Him by His works. Vs 7

-Peter first covered himself.

-He jumped into the water.

-Was he swimming to shore

-Was he trying to get away?

-He swam to shore.

III. Peter’s restoration.

A. Jesus supplies (already there was a fire and food)

B. The invitation “Come and dine”.

-He invites us to fellowship

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

-Jesus gives them bread and fish.

-nourishment…just what they needed.

-They knew it was the Lord.

-Have you gone back to the old life?

-There is no blessing or purpose in your life without the Lord.

-He invites you to “come and dine”

The Master beckons his people to come and know him. Not just in the power of sins forgiven but as a bride adorned for her husband. I enjoyed your notes.
