Christmas Reading

Summary: A reading I did for our Christmas program
He was given a name, that was greater and grander than any other names in the world.
He was given a name that is deeper than depth, higher than height, and wider than width.
He was given a name that put activity to the legs of a lame man at Bethesda
He was given a name that brought sight to a blind men at Jericho
He was given a name that gave forgiveness to a woman caught in adultery!
He was given a name that brought hope to a woman at a well!
He was given a name that He could heal the lepers spots and make them clean!
He was given a name that could take heat out of a fever, that could break up a funeral procession, that could tame a mad man and send him back to his family.
When this child becomes a man, behold what kind of man He becomes!
He was never farther than 100 miles away from His home and yet His teaching has reached around the world!
He never went to seminary, He never wrote a book and yet, there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
He was so poor, that He said of Himself, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
His only pocketbook was a mouth of a fish so that He could pay His taxes!
He laid in another man’s manger, He rode on a another man’s donkey, He preached from a another man’s boat, He died on the cross in another man’s place, He was buried in another man’s tomb, and got up from the grave for another man’s redemption!
Isaiah 9:6-For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
