Summary: REAL FAITH MUST BE TESTED.

CHRIST ON BOARD

INTRODUCTION: CHRIST, AFTER COMPLETING A SERIES OF PARABLES, INSTRUCTED HIS DISCIPLES AND OTHERS TO GO TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SEA OF GALILEE (LAKE GANNESARET). THE ENTIRE SEA AREA WAS SUSCEPTIBLE TO VIOLENT WINDS AND WATER. ALARMED BY A SUDDEN STORM, HIS DISCIPLES AWAKENED JESUS WHO WAS SLEEPING AT THE BACK OF THE BOAT. THEY APPRISED HIM OF THE DANGER AND POTENTIAL LOSS OF THEIR LIVES. (REFERENCE MATTHEW 8:23-27 AND MARK 4:35-41)

SPIRITUAL INSIGHT: LUKE 8: 25 (NKJV) BUT HE SAID TO THEM, “WHERE IS YOUR FAITH?” AND THEY WERE AFRAID, AND MARVELED, SAYING TO ONE ANOTHER, “WHO CAN THIS BE? FOR HE COMMANDS EVEN THE WINDS AND WATER, AND THEY OBEY HIM!”

THE DISCIPLES WERE YOUNG IN THE LORD. THEY WERE WILLING TO OBEY THE LORD. THEIR GROWING FAITH BECAME APPARENT IN A STORM. THEIR NAIVETY WAS APPARENT BY ASKING, “WHO CAN THIS BE”.

YOU NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH REAL FAITH YOU HAVE UNTIL TESTED IN THE STORMS OF LIFE. YOU WILL DISCOVER YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO ADVERSITY: THANK GOD, CHRIST IS ON BOARD!

APPLICATION: CHRIST SAID, “LET’S GO TO THE OTHER SIDE.” HE DID NOT SAY GO TO THE MIDDLE OF THE LAKE AND DROWN! (QUOTE: DAN CRAWFORD)
