Summary: There were 5000 men not including women and children. God not only wanted to meet their spiritual needs, but the physical needs as well. God has a desire to meet our needs.

Christ’s attitude toward the multitudes: sets before us the principles of all true missionary work. The multitude followed because of miracles, but he was anxious to satisfy their need, not entertain them with wonders. He knew they were hungry. Typical.

I. They Failed to See Him as Savior.

4. Miracles drew many after Him. Few to Him.

III. Jesus Desires Company with His Own.

IV. Jesus Knows the Needs of Unbelieving Multitudes and is Desirous to Supply it.

V. Jesus Knows Where the Supply is to Come From.

1. John 6:6

2. He is the wisdom of God.

3. Jesus never makes a demand without being prepared to supply all that is needed.

4. We may often be tried and proven, but looking to Him in them there can be no defeats.

VI. He Desires the Minds and Hearts of His Disciples Exercised.

1. John 6:5

2. Whence shall we buy?

3. Jesus exercised their mind in the feeding of the multitude.

VII. A Look at Things Which are Seen are Often a Barrier in the Way of Faith.

1. John 6:7

2. Occupied with circumstances.

3. Calculations without Christ.

VIII. Makes us of Little Gifts.

1. John 6:8-9

2. Difficulties blind us of God.

3. Nothing we have is too small for Him to use.

4. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29, who God chooses and uses.

IX. God Works Through His Disciples.

1. John 6:10

X. Jesus is All-Sufficient for this Emergency.

1. John 6:11

2. Jesus fed the hungry through His own disciples.

3. John 21:15-16, provided enough for all, some left.

4. No danger or shortage.
