Summary: The great unanswerable question in the New Testament?

1. Why should these Hebrews not tamper with the truths which had been confirmed by the resurrection of Christ? Christ is their heir – lose Christ (v. 1, cf. 1:2).

2. When one has had the opportunity to witness unanswerable confirmations of truth, what must he do? “…take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself” (Deuteronomy 4:9).

3. If the Jews had so much respect for the Mosaic Law because it was given by the meditation of angels, what reasons did they have to respect the revelation of the gospel? Spoken by the Lord, confirmed by apostle witnesses of miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit (vv. 2-3).

4. What kind of evidence was given at the first to confirm the revelation ministered by Christ? Miracles and signs and the Holy Spirit (v. 4).

5. What is the answer to some who claim that miracles and wonders have no relation to the age of grace? Miracles in Paul’s age (Acts 14:3).

6. What is the great unanswerable question in the New Testament? “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” (v. 3).

7. Can “neglect” lead to the same result as rejection? “He who does not believe is condemned already” (John 3:18).

8. Although Jesus was the Creator of angels, what was He willing to do in order to provide redemption for sinful creatures? Made lower … taste death for everyone (v. 9).

9. What was the result of His obedience unto death for us? Taste death (v. 9).

10. For how many has He laid down a sufficient ransom? Everyone (v. 9, 1 Timothy 2:6).

11. What title is here given to Christ? Captain of salvation (v. 10).

12. What is the reaction of the Son of God to humans? “He is not ashamed to call them brethren” (v. 11).

13. For what specific purpose did He take on human form and come among men? Destroy the devil (v. 14).

14. Is there any reasons now for a real Christian to fear death? No – Jesus delivers those subject to death (v. 15).

15. What two qualities of the perfect High Priest do we then find in the risen Christ? Merciful and faithful (v. 17. The word for merciful means sympathetic).

16. Can any heartache come to us that He does not understand better than we? No (v. 18).

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, God heard you and saved you. I personally want to welcome you to the family of God and rejoice with you.
