Summary: The Lord has the Power to Calm the storm. Calming the storm is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels.
Mark 4:35-41 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Calms the Storm
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terri?ed and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
I have always been fascinated by this story. How could Jesus sleep through it? I don't blame the disciples for wondering if He really cared. I have felt that sometimes and iam sure you have also been in such moments when you wondered if He really cared.
1.Do you have Jesus in your Boat? One of the things I learn from this is that it's very important to have Jesus in our lives. Are you connected to Jesus? Is he in your life? Have you accepted Him to be your Lord and savior? There were other boats in the sea that night. We don't know what happened to the Fishermen who were in them. But in this particular boat Jesus was present. When the storm raged the disciples did everything they knew to steady the boat. In their desperation they remembered they were not alone. Jesus was in the boat! All they needed to do is let him know that the storm is raging and that they are almost drowning. It was not a plead it was a call of alarm. How can He be asleep when everything is in chaos. Do you sometimes feel like the disciples and wonder if He really cares or can He even see what you are going through? You are not alone . Jesus is all powerful He got up commanded the winds to be still and in a ?ash of a second it was Calm. Yes ! When storms of life rages we have a savior who is able to calm the storm.
Are you in a storm today stop complaining and grambling. Call on Jesus to calm the storm.
2. Replace Fear with Faith
Fear is false evidence appearing real. Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear shows you the end and destruction. Fear hinders us from praying. It is time to replace fear with faith. Where fear said you are done, ?nished let faith profess it's not yet over you are an overcomer. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Activate your faith today and declare and believe that the storm you are going through today is not to ?nish you.But it will bring glory to God.
