BRINGING DOWN THE GIANTS - DON’TS & DO’S

Great things never came from your comfort zone! God wants to place us in uncomfortable, impossible, unbelievable spots so we will keep our trust in Him! Remember, Faith is best spelled I OBEY!

David didn’t defeat Goliath because of his skill. He defeated Goliath because of his faith!

When we get such a living and powerful faith in what God is able to do in our own lives, we have the same possibilities. We have the same God!

SOME DON’TS:

Don’t FORGET Who you are fighting for! (Vs. 36-37)

? The Israelite army saw Goliath! David saw God!

? The Israelite army thought Goliath was attacking them! David knew Goliath was attacking God!

Don’t fall prey to the CRITICS! (Vs. 28)

? Everyone who has never killed a giant will tell you it can’t be done!

? Critics come in TWO flavors: SOUR (physical) & SWEET (positional)

? Eliab, (sour critic) David’s oldest brother, had been passed over for the kingly throne. He criticized David and called him names. But he himself was unwilling to face the giant!

? How do you deal with the SOUR critic? Focus on the REWARD! (Vs. 25-27)

? King Saul (positional critic) should have been the one to face the giant but he’s hiding in his tent!

? Critics like Saul have problems with projects that require a great deal of faith! (Vs. 31-33)

Don’t try to FIT someone else’s plan! (Vs. 38-39)

? Saul tries to make David face the giant the way he would if he were going to. David kindly says, “No, thank you! I have seen the faithfulness of God in the past and HE WON’T LET ME DOWN NOW!

SOME DO’S:

Do fight with TENACITY - NOTHING TO LOSE!

? Have a bulldog-like commitment! A bulldog’s nose is slanted backwards so he can breathe while he holds on!

Do fight with TRANSPARENCY - NOTHING TO HIDE!

? David’s conviction: God was to be honored NO MATTER WHAT!

Do fight with TRANQUILITY - NOTHING TO FEAR!

? The Israelite army said, “Goliath is so big we can’t kill him!” David said, “Goliath is so big I can’t miss him!”

Every experience, every person God placed in our lives is the perfect preparation for the future that only He knows!

NEVER PUT GOD IN A BOX! Put your giant in a box and put God over your box!
