Summary: We are creatures of habits. Habits can become death traps. God has a plan to break the cycle. Study the eagle.

FLYING IN CIRCLES --- BREAK THE CYCLE
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
CYCLE: Recurrent round, period of time, pattern... model, blue-print,
Pattern you copy over and over, behavior pattern, reaction pattern, thinking pattern...
(winter, spring, summer, fall; birth, baby, child, teen, adult, death; CO 2 to O 2; )
I. ONE OF LESSON OF THE BIBLE THAT DEALS WITH CYCLES AND PATTERNS IS HIDDEN
IN THE LESSON OF THE EAGLE.
A. WHAT POINT OF VIEW WILL WE THANK?
DO YOU THINK THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN HOW THE MOUSE AND THE EAGLE VIEW
MOUNTAINS? Allow a time for those you are teaching to discuss the differing views of a mouse
and the eagle as they look at mountains? WHICH VIEW DO WE TAKE?
B. In Israel there are 4 known eagles: 1.) the golden eagle; 2.) the spotted eagle; 3.) the imperial eagle;
4.) circaetos heliaca.
C. Eagles are known for their swiftness in flight. They are also know for their ability to sink their
RAZOR SHARP TALONS into flesh and tear it's prey with it's beak.
D. I am told very few birds can fly with a broken wing. There does appear to be an exception to this
rule: THE EAGLE. I am told many eagles can fly if they have a broken wing. The problem with
the eagle's flight pattern when it has a broken wing is: IT CAN ONLY FLY IN CIRCLES...
around and around, it's flight pattern can not be changed.
E. EAGLES ARE KNOWN IN THE BIBLE A FAST/SWIFT TRAVELERS...
Deut. 28:49 The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift
as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
2 Samuel 1:23 Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were
not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
F. THE EAGLE FINDS SAFETY IN HIGHER ALTITUDES...
The eagle's nest is high above the reach of prey.
The eagle is known that it FLYS ABOVE THE STORM...
Job 39:27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
Jeremiah 49:16 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the
clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the
eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the Lord.
G. THE EAGLE HAS GREAT VISION, I am told an eagle could read newspaper print from
1/4 mile away...
Job 39:27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
[28] She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
[29] From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
[30] Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
H. IN THE OLD TESTMENT AND THE NEW TESTAMENT THE EAGLE IS A SYMBOL OF BRAKING
CYCLES AND OF THE NATIONS GOD USES AND SENDS TO ACCOMPLISH HIS WORK AND PLANS
Isaiah 46:11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country:
yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
Ezekiel 39:4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is
with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
II. THE EAGLE IS A GREAT LESSON OF BEING PUSHED OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE...
THE BIBLE REFERS TO THE EAGLE TRAINING TO FLY...
1. THE BABY EAGLET LOVES THE NEST AND IS SO COMFORTABLE AND WANTS TO NEVER
LEAVE THE NEST.
If the baby eaglet stay in the nest too long there is a problem with fleas, ticks, a cleanliness
issues... the dung will accumulate..
2. YOU CAN NOT STAY IN EGYPT...
Exodus 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought
you unto myself.
Deut. 32:11-12 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings,
taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
[12] So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
3. GOD'S LOVE AND CARE OVER HIS PEOPLE IS LIKENED UNTO A MOTHER EAGLE...
IT'S TIME TO FLY BABY...
4. SO THE MOM EAGLE SLOWLY PUSHES THE NEST TO THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF,
HERE GOES THE FIRST LESSON?
