Summary: What caught my attention in this whole episode of Jesus healing the eyes of a beggar born blind is that, ‘ people were not able to recognize him after the healing.’
I am the one
BORN BLIND BEGGAR
John 9:9 Others were saying, "This is he," still others were saying, "No, but he is like him." He kept saying, "I am the one."
UNRECOGNIZABLE: What caught my attention in this whole episode of Jesus healing the eyes of a beggar born blind is that, ‘ people were not able to recognize him after the healing.’ Wow ! Someone clap hands for God! So perfect was his eye sight and when they saw him walking perfectly with dignity and clarity, they were not able to believe that a man born blind and a beggar could have such an awesome transformation. God walks into our life and turns our hopeless, dark, dead situations into a miracle, give God a standing ovation, He is worthy!
REJECTION:I kind of visualized the entire healing and thoroughly enjoyed this chapter, I hope you get the anointing too. Imagine the man who got healed, kept saying, “I am the one, I am the one….’ but they ignored him blatantly and kept discussing within themselves ‘this is he, no, he is like him. The miracle of a Born Blind Beggar (BBB) getting healed 100 percent was unbelievable for the society. Are you listening? His opinion did not matter to them at all, to them he was a nameless blind beggar. He had NO VOICE AT ALL IN THE SOCIETY, have you felt like that any time?
You do all the hard work but your boss takes the credit, leaving you without any appreciation or recognition. You are behind the whole project: organizing, running, screaming, sweating, typing, scanning …..but finally nobody recognizes you- how does that feel? Blind beggar. I sat like that blind beggar in a corner in my office, with my name not in the promotion or increment list for more than 4 years, I started to feel ‘inadequate, ill-equipped and unsuitable’ – all of which are dangerous feelings for an individual. My boss never called me for any important work – I wondered if something was drastically wrong with my work! Rejection is inevitable for growth process! Anybody listening? This is a signal not of your inability but that glory is on its way in your life, clap hands for God!
One day God walked into my life in the form of ‘serious illness’, I became like a blind beggar, five months pregnant with dangerous fibroids that were threatening to kill me. I could not walk, sleep or sit, it was itching all over my body, finally I was bleeding and admitted in the emergency ward. During that time of utter misery, pastors walked into my room with Bibles and prayed for me. Doctors gave the verdict that my uterus has to be removed, baby aborted and my life was also in jeopardy. But when I read the Bible, Jesus said;”by my stripes you are healed.” I chose the latter one and battled in prayer for the first time in my life. March 1, 2000, God healed me and I delivered a boy baby Joshua who is now a pastor, later my husband and daughter also joined me in ministry. God chose this ‘blind beggar ‘ like me to reveal His glory, trust God for a miracle. People failed to recognize me but God enabled a Blind Beggar like me to start a free school for the poor, Children Home, Church; today I serve not only as a preacher, teacher and writer but also as a Principal.
CONTINUOUS SUFFERING: Sometimes God allows certain things to happen and also the problem persists for a long time, so that His glory would be revealed through the healing of that so called hopeless situation. This man was a grown up man, born blind and also had no other source of income but begging, his parents seem to be detached because when they were questioned, they replied, ‘ask him.’ His loneliness, pain, suffering, humiliation, helplessness were not small; however, God visited him one day and changed his situation into something glorious and unimaginable. He would do the same for you too, hold on to your faith. He is the same unchangeable God that we serve today!
SUBMIT TO GOD: The blind man patiently submitted to the treatment of Jesus, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, don’t rebel but submit to the plans of God.
The blind man obeyed Jesus when He said: (7) , "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which is translated, Sent). So he went away and washed, and came back seeing. Miracles happen when we humbly obey God.
