BOGGED DOWN
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
BOGGED DOWN:
2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 Timothy 3:1 (MOFF) Mark this, there are hard times coming in the last days.
2 Timothy 3:1 (MSG) Don't be naive. There are difficult times ahead.
2 Timothy 3:1 (NLT) You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.
2 Timothy 3:1 (NIV) But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
2 Timothy 3:1 (ASV) But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come.
2 Timothy 3:1 (ESV) But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
2 Timothy 3:1 (NASB77) But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
DO YOU KNOW THERE IS A BOUNTY ON YOUR HEAD?
Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
FEAR and DOUBT breed and are contagious. LIFE HAS A WAY OF BOGGING US DOWN and then KEEPING US DOWN…
HUMANS ARE THE ONLY VARMINTS THHAT BUILD TRAPS AND THEN PUTS THEIR OWN NECKS IN THE TRAPS THEY DESIGNED…
Exodus 23:33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.
. Exodus 34:12 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
BOGGED DOWN… STUCK!
I had a teacher that was in the Army and he trained to drive a huge tank into battle. One day the temperatures had been over a 100* and they had a short night. So they stopped to eat lunch and the men all took a nap under a shade tree. The area in which they were training was a swamp, the ground was kind of spongy wet ground. They had parked the tank in an area that moist and ate under some trees. They talked of what they had learned that day and slept a few hours. When the training group awoke and returned to their tank, it was gone. They looked around and saw several antennas in the sand. The heaviness of the tank slowly bogged it down until the whole tank was buried in the “quick sand.”
BOGGED DOWN: have you ever felt BOGGED DOWN? Have you ever slowly sank into deeper and deeper trouble? Life can so impede us that we seemed forever stuck.
I had a little baby black Angus. He loved to escape into the neighbor’s yard. I was looking for him one day. I was driving through the fields and I GOT BOGGED DOWN in my pinto. I walked home and got the van and a chain. As I pulled the pinto, my van got BOGGED DOWN to the axle. No problem, I walked to the house and got the Pickup. I hooked the chain to the van. I WAS BOGGED DOWN AGAIN.
Life seems to have a way of BOGGING US DOWN. I walked ½ mile to my neighbor’s house and I sought his help. I told him I was BOGGED DOWN in the field. He got his JOHN DEERE out of the barn and he was amazed I had all three of my vehicles stuck in the mud. I took the chain and hooked it to the pickup. I drove it to the road. We returned and I hooked the chain to the van and pulled it to the road. We returned back to the field and I hooked the chain to the pinto and finally I had all 3 vehicles to the road.
A few days later I was at the little country store at the end of the road. I saw the men sitting around the store whispering and laughing. I never had to ask the topic of the conversation. I knew they were discussing that stupid Yankee new to the neighborhood.
I GUESS I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT GETTING BOGGED DOWN. SEVERAL TIMES THROUGH THE YEARS NEIGHBORS HAD TO PULL ME OUT … BUT AFTER THAT ONE DAY, THEY ONLY HAD TO PULL ONE VEHICLE OUT.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN LIFE GETS HEAVY? WHEN LIFE GETS BOGGED DOWN TRUST SOME FRIENDS TO HELP…
Exodus 17:12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
RED FLAGS… WE TEND TO BECOME BOGGED DOWN BECAUSE WE REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE WARNING LIGHTS AND THE RED FLAGS… WHY
