Jeremiah 32:17 – “Ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You.”

Personal Reflection: The Power of God’s Constant Presence

Recently I read a testimony of the greatness of God and what it meant in a difficult “season” in this particular individual’s life. I share it with you today:

I’ll never forget a moment in my life when the greatness of God became more than just something I read or heard about—it became real. A few years ago, I found myself in a place of complete uncertainty. A sudden job loss had shaken my family, and we didn’t know how we would make ends meet. Bills were piling up, and every day felt like walking through a thick fog with no direction in sight. I remember praying, but I’ll be honest—at times, my prayers felt more like desperate whispers than declarations of faith.

One night, I opened my Bible to Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Those words were both a gentle nudge and a challenge for me to stop striving, stop panicking, and start trusting the One who holds the universe together. I realized that if God could create the heavens and the earth, how much more could He handle the chaos of my circumstances?

It wasn’t an instant fix. Day by day, in ways I didn’t always notice, God provided. A friend showed up with groceries, a random job opportunity came my way, and somehow, we made it through. But what truly changed wasn’t just our situation—it was my heart. I began to understand that God’s greatness wasn’t just about His ability to fix what’s broken; it was about His constant presence, carrying me through when I felt too weak to stand.

Looking back now, I see how those difficult months deepened my faith. Just like the psalmist declares, “The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress” (Psalm 46:7). I experienced firsthand that God’s greatness isn’t confined to the big, miraculous moments—it’s in the steady, everyday provision, the peace that surpasses understanding, and the quiet assurance that He never leaves us.

I share this because I believe we’ve all faced moments where life felt overwhelming, where the storm seemed too great. But just as I discovered, those are the times when we’re invited to lean into the greatness of our “Big God.” My prayer is that you will see His hand in your life, just as I saw it in mine, and know with confidence that He is always for you.

Introduction

• "Have you considered the magnitude of God’s power, wisdom, and presence in every aspect of your life?"

• Today’s message seeks to lead us into a deeper understanding and awe of God’s greatness – His infinite power, unchanging presence, and boundless ability to overcome any challenge.

I. God’s Greatness in Creation

Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

A. The vast scope of God’s creation demonstrates the greatness of His power.

1. From the stars in the sky to the complexity of a human being, all things testify to a "Big God" who orchestrates all creation with precision and purpose.

B. Psalm 19:1 – “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”

1. Encourage the congregation to marvel at creation as an expression of God’s greatness.

2. Reflect on how this same God who formed the galaxies also crafted each one of us with intentionality (Psalm 139:13-14).

II. God’s Omnipresence in Our Lives

Psalm 139:7-10 – “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?”

A. God’s presence is not limited by time or space.

1. Wherever we are, God is near – guiding, sustaining, and comforting us in every trial and triumph.

B. Hebrews 13:5 – “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

1. Biblical evidence of His constant presence…

2. This assurance should inspire confidence and courage.

3. As Christians we should trust “God's steady presence”, especially in moments of uncertainty or doubt, knowing He will never abandon His people.

III. God’s Unlimited Power to Overcome Challenges

Matthew 19:26 – “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

A. Explore examples of God’s power at work in Scripture. Discuss instances like

1. Parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14)

2. Victory at Jericho (Joshua 6),

3. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28)

• These events illustrate that no circumstance is beyond the reach of God’s intervention.

B. Isaiah 41:10 – “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
