Psalm 59 Beware of the Dog 1. David's Prayer - 1-5
i. A Prayer for Deliverence - 1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God:
defend me from them that rise up against me.
ii. A Prayer in Danger -
The People - 1 Deliver me from mine enemies (used to be friends)
The Plot - 1 defend me from them that rise up against me.
The Peril - 2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity,
The Purpose - 2 and save me from bloody men. (The plot to kill David)
The Persistence - 3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul:
The Power - 3 the mighty are gathered against me; (King Saul)
The Perversion - not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
iii. A Prayer of Direction - He Seeks
Process - 5 Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Promptness - 5 awake to visit all the heathen:
Punishment - 5 be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.

9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence
3. David's Prescription - 11 - 15
1. Spare them - 11 Slay them not, lest my people forget:
2. Scatter them - 11 scatter them by thy power;
3. Subdue them - 11 and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
4. Snare them - 12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. 5. Smite them - 13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: 6. School them -
13 and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
7. Stimy them - 14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
