Summary: The holiness of life is a necessity for every professing Christian. It is the visa that grants us access to God's Kingdom for without it no man can see the Lord.

TOPIC: BELIEVER'S LIFE OF HOLINESS.

TEXT: HEBREWS 12:14.; LEVITICUS 19:2

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Leviticus 19:2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

One absolute necessity for a heaven-bound believer is a life of Holiness. No one can continue to live the Christian life that does not practise a holy living. We can't embrace the God of the Bible and fail to embrace a holy lifestyle. To have one is to have the other or you don't have either, except you are a hypocrite.

In most churches today, holiness has been driven to the back seat in the homilies and teachings of these congregations. It is no longer a popular subject even among the congregants which they despitefully refer to as "old school". This trend is only fulfilling the Scripture as recorded in 2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"

Let us be careful so that we are not the ones fulfilling negative prophecy!.

What is Holiness?

The basic concept of holiness in the Bible is Separation--separation from sin; separation unto God or Godliness.

It means freedom from sins, moral integrity and purity. You are holy to the extent your life reflect the character of God.

Holiness is the single, unchanging demand of God from His children in all ages.

*The Prophets preached about Holiness:

Leviticus 19:2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

* Our Lord Jesus Christ talked about it:

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

*The Apostles Taught it in their Epistles :

1 Peter 1:15-16 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Whether in the Old or New Testament the uniform command of the Scriptures to the people of God is "be ye holy".

Nothing more is required, nothing less is sufficient and nothing is of any value without it.

Holiness does not know any age limit or denomination, it is for all God's people because " without holiness, no man can see the Lord"

*If you desire to see God at the end of your sojourning here on earth, you must live a holy life because the Kingdom of God is holy. No one who is not used to a holy living will be admitted into heaven. It is a prepared place for prepared people who are accustomed to holy living.

Isaiah 35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.

Holiness gives your prayers a lift straight to the throne of grace. No power can withstand the prayer of a holy man. No demon resists a holy man. Therefore if you want your prayer to attract speedy attention in heaven practice holiness because, ..." the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16b)

Holy life enjoys so many other benefits like good health, divine protection, favour from God and man, peace of mind and so on.

It is better experienced than described. Brothers and sisters, I invite you to a life of holy living. Come thou with us!
