Become A Prisoner Of Hope

PRISONER OF HOPE

I. HOPE IS ONE OF THE 3 MAJOR COMPONENTS THAT MAKE UP OUR CHRISTIAN

BACKBONE...

Hope never works alone... it is a team member... they work together...

1 Cor. 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Hope, faith and love are ABSOLUTE ESSENTIALS TO SUCCESS IN ANYTHING!

BELIEVERS HAVE HOPE...

Non-believers lack hope...

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE BELIEVERS HOPE IS... ???

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

[2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare

a place for you.

[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;

that where I am, there ye may be also.

THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST IS OUR GREAT HOPE...

II. GOD PROMISES TO GIVE DOUBLE...

Hope must not be weak, frail, fading...

Hope must be strong, self-feeding, and enduring...

WE NEED DOUBLE PORTION HOPE...

2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha,

Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee,

let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

Elijah was a mighty man of God...but ELISHA DID MUCH MORE...

They both strike water and walk...

Stand uncompromised...

Raise dead to life...

Elisha was a TRIUMPHAT SPIRITED MAN...

No record of ever COMPLAINING...

HE DID MORE MIRACLES THAN ELIJAH ...

III. HOPE CAN HELP CAST AWAY DEPRESSION AND RELEASE TRUST...

Psalm 42:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me?

hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

Psalm 42:11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me?

hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

IV. BLESSING COME TO THOSE THAT TRUST AND HAVE HOPE

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

V. GOD PROMISES TO GIVE DOUBLE... TO THE PRISONERS OF HOPE...

Zech. 9:11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of

the pit wherein is no water.

[12] Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render

double unto thee;

Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

VI. GOD'S EYES ARE LOOKING TO BLESS THOSE IN HOPE...

Psalm 33:18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

2 Chron. 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself

strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly:

therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

VII. GOD'S WORD DOES GOD'S WORK... THE BIBLE BRINGS HOPE...

Psalm 130:5 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

2 Cor. 1:9 But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves,

but in God which raiseth the dead:

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
