Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Encourage the church family to continuously seek and apply God's wisdom in their daily lives, especially as they navigate through life's challenges.
Good Morning, Church Family! As we start to gear up for the school year, it's not just our kids who are heading back to the classroom—life itself is a school of continuous learning. Today, we're going to revisit the wisdom that our ultimate teacher, God, imparts in us.
Henry Drummond once said, "Is life not full of opportunities for learning love? Every man and woman every day has a thousand of them. The world is not a playground; it is a schoolroom. Life is not a holiday, but an education. And the one eternal lesson for us all is how better we can love."
Let's turn to Romans 1:20-21, it says,
"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened."
Let's bow our heads and open our hearts for the prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father, as we delve into your word today, we ask you to open our minds and our hearts. Help us to gain the wisdom that you have so lovingly provided for us. Show us, Lord, how to apply this wisdom in our daily lives, in our decision making, and in our interactions with others. In Jesus's name, we pray. Amen.
God's wisdom is not just a nice-to-have, it's an essential component for life. This is a truth that is deeply rooted in the Christian faith and is a cornerstone of our understanding of God and our relationship with Him.
Not something that we can acquire alone: It is a gift that God gives to those who seek Him and who are willing to submit to His will. This wisdom is not just about knowing what is right and what is wrong, but it is about understanding the deeper truths of life and the world around us. It is about seeing things from God's perspective and understanding His purposes and plans.
About discernment: It is about being able to make wise decisions in the midst of life's challenges and uncertainties. It is about being able to discern between truth and falsehood, between what is good and what is evil. This kind of discernment is not something that we can develop on our own, but it is something that comes from a deep relationship with God and a commitment to seeking His will in all things.
About humility: It is about recognizing our own limitations and our need for God's guidance and direction. It is about acknowledging that we do not have all the answers and that we need God's wisdom to navigate the complexities of life. This humility is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. It is a recognition of our dependence on God and our trust in His wisdom and guidance.
About love: It is about understanding the depth of God's love for us and for the world, and about living in a way that reflects that love. This kind of love is not a sentimental or superficial love, but a deep and sacrificial love that is willing to give up everything for the sake of others. This love is the foundation of God's wisdom and the guiding principle of our lives.
About hope: It is about having a confident expectation in God's promises and His faithfulness. It is about looking beyond the challenges and difficulties of the present and looking forward to the fulfillment of God's promises in the future. This hope is not a naive optimism, but a grounded and realistic hope that is based on the character and promises of God.
