Summary: This is a message used during a baby dedication service...
We are so honored today to be able to take part in the dedication service for:
Savannah Morgan Germany
Born: November 7, 2005
at Huntsville Hospital Women’s and Children’s Center
Savannah was born weighing 6lb 5oz and was 18 1/2 inches long.
Parents: Brad and Tammy Germany
Brother: Will
Grandparents:
Alfred and Lynn Germany
Jody and Pam Bell
“Children” are a wonderful thing. From the time they are born until the time you can get them out of the house they are precious to behold.
Things that babies do that I feel are just precious:
· How they use their entire bodies to yawn and stretch
· The first time they laugh out loud
· How they look up at you with so much trust in their eyes, knowing somehow that you are going to do everything you can to take care of them.
I want to share just a few things with you before we pray.
1. Children are of God:
Isaiah 44:2
“Thus saith the Lord that made thee and formed the from the womb, which will help thee…”
We read several accounts in God’s word where He “knew” you before you were ever born. Which tells me that you are someone before conception is made. So while the debate continues over when you are a human being and when you are not: You become somebody when God knows you.
Not only does He know you but He also formed you.
He made Savannah Morgan exactly how he wanted her to be. He determined her eye color, hair color, tone of her skin, and pitch of her voice – God made her beautiful in every way. Children are of God!
2. Children are also a Gift -
And what a precious gift they are. They are a gift that need not be taken for granted.
If there is one thing that I learned during 7th grade science, this is the one statement that was made that I will never forget. The teacher was describing how children are formed and delivered.
But listen to what she said, “For babies to come out perfect is far less likely than for a baby to have problems.” We think if they have 10 fingers and 10 fingers and properly working organs than everything is okay. And they are. But she was saying that a baby is less likely to come out that way. She called it a blessed thing to have a healthy baby.
Savannah has been blessed. Brad and Tammy have been blessed with a precious gift from God.
Brad and Tammy:
That it is why it’s so important for you to be the parents that God has called you to be. He has trusted you enough to give you not only Will who is a great boy but also another addition to your family.
· Keep them in the atmosphere of a loving father and a caring mother.
· Keep them in a place where they know about God.
· Keep them in a church where they will one day come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
That are a precious gift from God – but they do bring great responsibility. And I know you guys are up to the challenge.
3. Children are Grand -
It’s been said that the wonderful thing about Grandkids is that you can love them and spoil them but most importantly – You can return them.
You get them just to the point of being obnoxious and then you hear Granddad say, “It’s time to go back home”
Matt 19:14
“…But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." They are so grand they belong to heaven.
Grandparents – The responsibility does not only lie with the parents. You too, have been blessed with a gift from God. And it is your responsibility to oversee the raising of Savannah Morgan.
Not to the point of telling Brad and Tammy how to raise her, but you are to offer encouragement. Let them know that you there to help.
· To offer some Mom & Dad time away from the kids.
· To pray for their safety
· To pray for Brad and Tammy as they make many decisions that affect these precious gifts from God.
On a personal note: my final point
Remember:
Savannah is of God
She is a precious Gift
She is Grand
And Savannah is also a Girl – get the shotguns ready!
