Youth Sermon: Awareness

Introduction

We all want to live our best life, right? But sometimes, we get tricked by stuff that promises to make us happy but doesn't. Today, I've got something that can really make a difference - generosity. It's not some magic trick, but it can bring real joy, satisfaction, and make a difference that lasts. And it's not just about money.

It's about being generous with everything - our thoughts, words, time, attention, stuff, and even our social media likes. And the best part? Anyone can do it, no matter how much money you have. The secret to generosity is simple: spot a chance to give and go for it.

The secret to generosity is simple: spot a chance to give and go for it.

Generosity Glasses

Imagine you're wearing a pair of sunglasses. But these aren't just any sunglasses. They're 'generosity glasses'. When you put them on, you start to see things differently. You notice needs you didn't see before. You see chances to help, to give, to be kind. That's what living generously is like. It's like wearing a pair of glasses that help you see the world in a new way.

Generosity in Action

Generosity isn't just about money. It's about noticing the needs around us and using what we have to help. In Mark 5:21-34, Jesus shows us how to do this. Even in a crowd, he notices a woman who needs healing. He's aware of her need and he helps her. That's what we need to do - be aware and take action.

So, how can we live generously? Start by asking God every morning to help you be more generous. It might feel weird at first, but it can change how you see the world. It's like putting on those 'generosity glasses'. You start to see needs you didn't notice before. You see chances to help, to give, to be kind. And when you start to see those chances, take action. Be generous. You'll be amazed at how good it feels.

Conclusion

Being aware is the first step to living generously. When we start to notice needs, we can do something about them. When we see ourselves as God's gift to others, something amazing happens.

So let's pray together, asking God to show us chances to be generous and to give us the courage to take action.

God, help us to see the world through your 'generosity glasses.' Show us where we can help, where we can give, where we can be kind. And when we see those chances, give us the courage to take action. Amen.
