Summary: God wants His people to be F A T. He will use F A T people to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The disciples were F A T, Paul was F A T, the question is are you F A T?
ARE YOU FAT?
Text: Matthew 24: 45-51
The text speaks of two servants one who is faithful and wise and one who is unfaithful and slothful.
To the one who is faithful and wise great rewards.
To the other wailing and gnashing of teeth.
If you were able to speak the unfaithful one, he would think there was nothing wrong and that there was plenty of time to set things right if it wasn’t.
Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
The faithful and wise would just keep on doing what was required.
You see that is the key to being used of God.
To be a Faithful Servant who is wise in his master’s ways.
To be faithful, available, and teachable is what God is looking for.
Does this describe you?
The Disciples were FAT, Paul was FAT, are you F A T?
I. Are You Faithful?
A. God wants us to be faithful.
1. He is faithful.
Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
2. Are we faithful?
1 Samuel 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
B. Are we faithful to His Word?
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
C. Are we faithful in His service? (parable of the talents)
Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
II. Are You Available?
A. Are we available to be used of God?
1. How many have used something besides a hammer to drive a nail?
2. Why? It was handy.
B. Are you handy to God?
1 Samuel 3:10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant hears.
C. Are we available to be used of God?
Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
III. Are You Teachable?
A. Are we know-it-alls?
1. Someone who doesn’t need to be taught.
2. Someone who refuses to be taught.
3. Someone who thinks they are to old to learn new things.
B. Do we grasp the teaching?
2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
C. We must be teachable so that we can teach.
Hebrews 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Conclusion: The question is are you FAT?
If we want to be used of God we must be.
It is not enough to be faithful. Or available.
We must be all the way in this, to be used of God.
