Summary: The battle of the carnal vs the spiritual.
CARNAL VS SPIRITUAL: EXTERNAL VS INTERNAL

I once read where a Bedouin was traveling across the desert. He had traveled all bed. He stopped to set up camp.
He sat up the tent. He fed and watered the camel. It was getting dark. He lit the little lamp and lay down and began eating “THE DATES” his wife had packed for him. He was eating one of the dates and he found a worm in it. He then threw the date out of the tent. He picked out another ”DATE” and was enjoying it. He found a worm right in the middle of the date. He threw it out of his tent. He dug down in the bag and pulled out another date for he was hungry. Sure enough there was a worm in the middle of the date. He threw it out the tent door. He then blew the light in the lamp out. In the darkness he pulled the bag of dates close to him and he ate all the dates in the darkness.
*CARNAL: physical, sensual needs, fleshly desires, enjoyment, entertainment,
*SPIRITUAL: spirit, soul then body; see-know and practice truth; focused on eternal;
GOD IS MORE THAN EXTERNALS, RULES AND DO’S AND DON’T’S. DO WE UNDERSTAND THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN WHITE WASHED AND WASHED WHITE?
Someone ask: What do you believe? One answered: We don’t believe in drinking, gambling and dancing! They asked what do you believe: Jesus is God’s only son. We believe Jesus lived, died and was resurrected.
Matthew 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Matthew 23:25 (MSG) "You're hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You burnish the surface of your cups and bowls so they sparkle in the sun, while the insides are maggoty with your greed and gluttony. 26 Stupid Pharisee! Scour the insides, and then the gleaming surface will mean something. 27 "You're hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You're like manicured grave plots, grass clipped and the flowers bright, but six feet down it's all rotting bones and worm-eaten flesh. 28 People look at you and think you're saints, but beneath the skin you're total frauds.
Acts 23:3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
SEEMS MOST JUDGMENT SPECIALIZES ON EXTERNALS… God specializes on INTERNAL… THE PROBLEM OF THE HEART IS THE HEART OF THE PROBLEM. Many believe prayer and giving is to order God around. Prayer is reporting for duty.
THERE WAS A SUCCESSFUL BAKER IN THE COMMUNITY. HE LOVED TO GIVE FRO HIS HEART.
Every morning he baked 20 extra loaves of bread. The Preacher spoke on giving. So the baker made 20 loaves each day and invited 20 poor people to come and get a loaf of bread for free. There were many stronger, older kids that would push their way and get the largest loaf. He watched as a humble little girl always got the smallest loaf. Gretchen always said thank you as the others ran home. Gretchen would always kiss the baker’s hand in thanks.
One day the baker thought he would do something special for this poor family, He put 20 pieces of silver in the dough as he cooked it. Soon Gretchen was back at the shop and said: MOMMA SAID THIS WAS AN ACCIDENT. The baker said: THIS IS NOT A MISTAKE. I PUT THE COINS IN THE SMALLEST LOAF, HE IS YOUR REWARD.
The baker said: IF YOU FORGET YOURSELF AND BE THANKFUL GOD WILL REWARD YOU!
THERE WAS TWO PARTS TO THE TEMPLE OF GOD.
1. THE OUTTER COURT: WAS BIG AND ROOMY --- IT SHOWED MAN’S TALENTS, THE FLESH.
Ezekiel 40:20 And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.
The priest that worked the OUTTER COURT practiced. They kept their tools sharp. They knew how to cut the meat to perfection. They were so good with their skills they impressed the people. The outter court workers had the ceremonies and rituals down to impress the people.
