BEWARE: TAKE HEED TO ANGER/ WRATH

A HOT TEMPER IS A GREAT TOOL IN THE ENEMY'S HAND...

I. LET US LIKEN THE SWORD UNTO ANGER, WRATH,

GOD HAS A JACOB'S LADDER... STAIRWAYWAY OF HOPE...

HE WHO LIVES BY THE SWORD SHALL DIE BY THE SWORD...

A. As a believer we can grow the tendency to LOVE THE SWORD... we can try to fight spiritual

battles by fleshly means...

Peter cuts servants ear off...

Moses kills the Egyptian...

Sara gives Hagar...

B. Satan laughs at tempers, anger, swords, spears, javelins, fists, SWORDS DULL...

C. BUT OUR ENEMY FEARS THE POWER OF WORD, THE POWER OF PRAYER, THE POWER OF

PRAISE, AND THE POWER OF UNITY... PRAYER SHARPENS...

II. DOES ANGER, WRATH, AND QUICK TEMPERS BUILD BETTER PEOPLE?

A. THE ANGER PREACHER HAS AN ANGRY MINISTRY...

B. JONAH KNOWS THE HISTORY OF NINEVAH, THEY ARE MEAN AND CRUEL TO GOD'S PEOPLE...

Jonah 4:4 Then said the Lord, Doest thou well to be angry?

C. ANGRY PREACHERS, ANGRY MINISTRIES ALWAYS HAVE EXCUSES WHY THEY ARE ANGRY!

INSTEAD OF REPENTING, JONAH HIDS A BIITTER, ANGRY HEART...

Jonah 4:9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said,

I do well to be angry, even unto death.

D. BARNEY FIFE: NIP IT, NIP IT IN THE BUD...

CEASE ANGER... STOP IT...

Psalm 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

III. CAN WE CLEARLY DEFINE ANGER? IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL

ANGER? CAN A PERSON BECOME KNOWN FOR HIS ANGER? CAN A MAN DEFINE HIS FAMILY

IN EXTREME ANGER?

A. ESAU WAS A VERY ANGRY AND BITTER PERSON. He blamed his brother, mother, and father

for his anger and situation in life.

ESAU'S FAMILY BECAME KNOW AS EDOMITES... EDOMITES WERE KNOW FOR HATE, ANGER...

Esau had a direct descendant name DOEG...

DOEG WAS SO ANGRY AND BITTER HE KILL ALL THE KNOWN MINISTERS BUT ONE AND

LAUGHED AT HIS BAD ATTITUDE...

B. DEFINE:

1. ANGER:

Extreme or passionate displeasure, enrage, rage, irritation, vexation, outrage,

infuriate

2. RAGE: TO BE FULL OF ANGER... make furious.

Fierce or violent anger, violent action of a natural force,

3. WRATH:

Extreme anger over a long term

4. OUTRAGE:

Fierce resentment, gross offense, violate others rights,

C. ANGER IS AN EMOTION OF INSTANT DISPLEASURE ON ACCOUNT OF YOUR VIEW.

ANGER DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SINFUL;BBUT MAY BECOME SINFUL.

D. ANGER ALWAYS CARRIES THE TENDANCY TO RUN WILD...

ANGER IS TERRIBLE, A HATE BREEDER, IT STOPS SPIIRITUAL RENEWAL AND PATIENCE...

E. ONE THAT CAN NOT CONQUER THEIR TEMPER FAILS IN THE ARENA OF GRACE...

IV. CAN ANGER BECOME A SIN? WHEN DOES ANGER BECOME SIN?

1. CAUSELESS

Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in

danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council:

but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

2. EXCESSIVE:

Ephes. 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

3. PROTRACTED, LONG-TERM:

Col. 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out

of your mouth.

4. WHEN ANGER IS DIRECTED TO THE MAN OF GOD DOING THE WORK OF GOD:

2 Kings 5:11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come

out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place,

and recover the leper.

5. OLD BROTHER MENTALIITY STAYS AT HOME BUT SERVES IN ANGER:

Luke 15:28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and

intreated him.

V. ANGER BREEDS A SMART, DIRTY MOUTH...

Col. 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication

out of your mouth.

VI. FLY OFF THE HANDLE... QUICK TEMPERS...???

Proverbs 14:17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

Proverbs 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit

exalteth folly.

Eccles. 7:9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

VII. SLOW TO ANGER IS SMART...

Proverbs 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit

than he that taketh a city.

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak,

slow to wrath:
