Summary: Simon Peter was in Lydda, after he had healed a man of a serious disease. Two men from Joppa came there and asked Peter to go to Joppa with them. At Joppa, Peter was able to perform another miracle!

Conclusion: A brief summary of Peter’s stay in Joppa

Text, Acts 9:43, KJV: 43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

--Many people in Joppa had become believers in Jesus. Peter was already there and could easily disciple them, teaching them the things of the Lord

--Why Peter chose to stay with Simon the tanner is not stated. Someone once observed, humorously, that since Peter had done so much walking, he needed someone to keep him in leather shoes! That’s probably not the real reason but Simon the tanner should be regarded as one of our Lord’s unsung heroes for opening his house to Peter.

--Finally, you and I will probably never raise anyone back to life from the dead. Except for Paul’s bringing Eutychus back from the dead (Acts 20) this was the last time something like this happened. Even so, we can still perform alms deeds like Tabitha or simply live for Jesus in the way He wants us to. May the Lord direct us into the path of service that brings glory to Him!

Scripture quotations were taken from the King James Version of the Bible (KJV).
