Do you agree or disagree there is an absolute standard of right and wrong?

The rejection of an absolute standard of right and wrong is based on one of two decisions by those who reject the existence of an absolute standard of right and wrong. The first is the denial of the existence of the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the Bible. If there is no God that created the heavens and earth and the creatures of the heavens and earth, there is no absolute standard of right and wrong. If there is no absolute standard of right and wrong it makes no difference what we believe, what we do and say.

The second is the belief there is God who created the heavens and earth, its inhabitants, controls the course of history, and will one day judge the words, deeds, and thoughts of mankind, but He doesn’s care what we believe. Our only purpose in life is to fulfill His purpose for creating the universe and humanity. If God doesn’t care what we believe, say

and do why would He enact an absolute standard of right and wrong? If God doesn’t care what we believe, what we do, and say, it doesn’t matter what we believe. We are free to set our own standard of right and wrong.

The acceptance of an absolute standard of right and wrong is based on the decision, there is a God who has created the universe and humanity, set a course for history and will one day judge the words, deeds and thoughts of all mankind. If this is true it is very important what we believe because there is an eternal consequence attached to what we believe.

Those who deny the existence of an abslute standard of right and wrong disagree with the claims made by God, the prophets, Jesus, and the apostles. Those who accept the existence of an absolute standard of right and wrong agree with the claims made by God, the prophets, Jesus, and the apostles.

In this present age the standard of right and wrong is determined by individual and national situations and conditions. It is not absolute. The determining factor of the standard of right and wrong in this present age is feelings and traditions. Whatever makes you feel good is the right thing to do. Whatever does not make you feel good is the wrong thing to do.

In this present age the people who reject the idea of an absolute standard of right and wrong are afraid if they accept a standard of right and wrong that contradicts their accepted standard of right and wrong it will result in the abandonment of their accepted

standard of right and wrong. This was the reason the Jewish leaders, teachers, and the people rejected the teachings of the prophets, Jesus and the apostles. It is the reason people in the organized church reject the claims made by God, the prophets, Jesus, and the

apostles. Jesus made it very clear, if our beliefs and behavior are not in accordance with God’s absolute standard of right and wrong they must be abandoned and we must live our lives according the God’s standard of right and wrong and not man’s.

A second reason why God’s standard of right and wrong is rejected in our society is, God’s absolute standard of right and wrong has not been clearly revealed or understood.

God’s standard of right and wrong has been revealed and it is both understandable and absolute. The problem is not a failure to reveal the standard on God’s part, the prophets part, Jesus’ or the apostles. It is due to the failure of people to seek out God’s will and accept it when they find it.

Where do we find the doctrine of an absolute standard of right and wrong?

It is found in the Bible, the oldest religious book that teaches the existence of one true living God. The testimonies of the creation, the fall of mankind, the destructive flood in the days of Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah, the rise and fall of kingdoms and kings, the birth of Jesus, and the birth of Christianity are proof there is an absolute standard of right and

wrong.
