America's Greatest Tragedy, Pt 2 By Dr. Winson Butler
Contributed by Winson Butler on Jun 29, 2004 (message contributor)
Summary: Satan is never too busy to rock the cradle of a sleeping Church. Next to the Unattended Church the greatest tragedy in America today is the Unbowed Knee!
Introduction
Recently, an organization called "The Barna Group" conducted a study on the importance of reaching children with the gospel before their teens.
They found that:
*a person’s moral foundations are laid by the age of nine.
*most people make a decision regarding the personal significance of Christ’s death and resurrection by the age of 12.
*in most cases, people’s spiritual beliefs are irrevocably formed while they are still preteens.
This research highlights the critical need in America for the Church to reach and disciple children with the life changing message of Jesus Christ, while they are still young!
While this IS one of the greatest needs in our country today, we are being faced though with an even greater challenge and might I say, "A tragedy..."
America’s Greatest tragedy is three-fold, First, the Unattended Church, next, The Unbowed Knee!
Satan is NEVER too busy to rock the cradle of a sleeping Saint or Church. So many have had such a large dose of Saturday Night Live they’re Sunday Morning DEAD!
Why prayer. Notice with me what the scriptures teaches about prayer and then you decide for yourself.
Main Division
I. Prayer Is To Be Continuous (I Thess 5:17)
II. Prayer Frees The Captive (James 5:13-16)
III. Prayer Blesses The Christian (Acts 1:14)
Conclusion: We can as a nation Pray, Believe and Receive or Pray, Doubt and Do Without!
