I stated previously that some had been taught that God gave them a spiritual gift. It may be the gift of "helps" or "mercy." Suppose someone needs prayer for deliverance or healing. The person praying for them would need the gift of discernment to determine the root of the problem. They would also need to ask God for the supernatural ability to speak a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, prophecy, or the gift of healing to help the person. The supernatural gifts are available to have and possess, not just for the healing and restoration of the person being prayed for.
For example, if I give a new car as a birthday gift, who possesses the gift? The person I give it to or me? It is a sick person that needs the gift of healing. When God heals someone, they receive the gift of healing.
All of the fullness of God dwells in Jesus. He possesses every gift.
"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power." (Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV)
Jesus dwells in the Christian! Since they have all of God in them, they have all the gifts at their disposal because they are His holy temple!
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV)
Greater is He that is IN you than the enemy of this world!
"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." (1 John 4:4 NIV)
The same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in every Christian!
"And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you." (Romans 8:9-11 NIV)
Remember, they possess ALL the glorious riches of Jesus, the Hope of Glory!
"To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:27 NIV)
Everything God has is to be used through them, as the body, to impart the work, so all the gifts of the Spirit flow. When they operate in the anointing, praying for the sick six to eight hours a day, they need access to those gifts to use them. It's not the gift that makes them strong but what they do with them. As they use the gift, it begins to grow.
The purpose of the gifting is to provide what is necessary to bring the person into a place of forgiveness, repentance, and restoration. The gifts of the Spirit are very powerful because they are working from Jesus within them.
Walking naturally in the anointing begins once there is a surrender to God of ALL emotions, dreams, desires, ambitions, aspirations, intellect, talent, experience, and knowledge. Christians can only experience the power of the Resurrection AFTER they are declared dead.
The purpose of the supernatural gifts is to provide what is necessary to bring a lost person to Jesus and into a place of forgiveness, repentance, and restoration.
A. Anointed to Know
The English word "know" can be defined as the ability to be aware of truth or to perceive directly, to be convinced or confident, have a practical or experiential understanding. (Merriam-Webster) This definition can be applied in the spiritual realm for the following three spiritual manifestation gifts of the Holy Spirit.
1. The Word of Wisdom
One spiritual manifestation gift that provides divine insight is the "Word of Wisdom." The word "word" is translated from the Greek word Logos meaning the spoken word rather than the written word.
The word "wisdom" comes from the Greek word 'sophia' and denotes a wise application of knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight.
The Gift of the Word of Wisdom enables a person to express the Holy Spirit's leading and guidance of how and when to make a correct, clear, and concise judgment or decision that reaches beyond human knowledge and intellect on behalf of another. It is not the ability to discern a situation, make a decision with unusual common sense, or study the Bible for 'new' revelations.
Tyler had a friend come to him for guidance regarding making an important decision about his future that could have severe long-term consequences if he chose the wrong course of action. Tyler prayed for his friend and sought God's wisdom on his behalf. He shared the words he believed the Holy Spirit was giving him to say with his friend, who received the advice.
