Title : ALL THESE THINGS WILL BE DISSOLVED

Text : 2 Peter 3:10-14 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Peter 3:11 [Seeing] then [that] all these things shall be dissolved, what manner [of persons] ought ye to be in [all] holy conversation and godliness,2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Our life here on earth is full of labor and needs, we need food, shelter, clothing and education and there are times people cannot anymore distinguish between wants and needs. God knows our needs and He promised to supply all our needs but we have to seek first His will and His Kingdom. But it is a sad fact that a lot of believers now a days have no more time to worship and serve God because they are busy working to meet their needs and some gaining material treasures and fame here on earth. It is an evil thing and very displeasing to the Lord when our needs and wants ( ambitions ) in life become a hindrance to our service to the LORD. In our text this morning, the Lord through apostle Peter gives us a strong warning and admonition that all these things ( materials and physical ) maybe we have tried to labor and gain for years will be dissolved, Brethren, ponder upon this inevitable truth, the worldly treasures we gain by our earnest effort and sacrifices will be gone in a moment “and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up “. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, I believe it is wise then to abide in the following three important principles in life :

I. ANCHOR YOUR AFFECTION ON THINGS ABOVE

2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. As Christians, let us fill our minds and hearts with heavenly things, Let us not waste all our effort and time on those temporal material things that will not last, let us lay up for ourselves treasures in Heaven those heavenly things that are eternal which God has reserved in Heaven for them love and serve Him. Matthew 6:20 ; 2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. Believers in Christ are admonished not to love the material world 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

II. ADVANCE AND INVEST TO THE CAUSE OF CHRIST

In this world a lot of people spend a lot of money, time, effort and even sacrificing their lives fighting for a worldly cause, it might be a political cause, a nationalistic cause, or even a personal cause and ambitions in life, but I tell you my friend, all these causes will not last forever for all these things shall come to past and ONLY what’s done for Christ will last. Christians, let it be resolved then in your mind to consider the cause of Christ as your FIRST PRIORITY. It is wise for Christians to invest their life, treasures and talents for the cause of Christ which is eternal. John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Hebrews 6:10 For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

III. ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS FOR THE LORD

Where are the great people of this world? Where are the conquerors and great kingdoms of the past ? Death swallowed them up and melted all their labors and hopes. Those people like Nimrod who became mighty and great in the eyes of the world but poor in the eyes of the Lord. Many people want to be great in this world but ultimately all their labors and sacrifices will be forgotten. Let us then be great men of spiritual things, let our great aspirations and sacrifices be done for the glory of the LORD and for the advancement of His Kingdom. In the eyes of the LORD, the true great men in this world are those men of Faith. Hebrews 11:2 For by it ( Faith ) the elders obtained a good report. If we desire to achieve great things for the LORD, let us be willing to occupy the lowest position in God’s Kingdom, that is the position of being a SERVANT. Matthew 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. , and as we faithfully serve the Lord, let us keep ourselves pure as a vessel unto honor meet for the Master’s use. 2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless
