Summary: Israel could not expect communion with God, unless they first sought peace with him. Where there is not friendship, there can be no fellowship. God and man cannot walk together, except they are agreed. Unless we seek his glory, we cannot walk with him.

Agreement! Text: Amos 3:1-3

1 Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:2 “ You only have I known of all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.” 3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

Introduction: Israel could not expect communion with God, unless they first sought peace with him. Where there is not friendship, there can be no fellowship. God and man cannot walk together, except they are agreed. Unless we seek his glory, we cannot walk with him. We in return cannot say we trust and love Christ and each other unless we’re willing to back our words and actions up. Where there is a flaw in agreement words become cheap!

I. Don’t go around saying, “I love you to anyone unless you are willing to back those words up!” (By staying silent, by defense and with prayer.)

A. Matthew 18:19-20 19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

B. Webster’s says “Agreement” means Harmony of people’s opinions or actions or characters; "the two parties were in accord."

C. Jesus is saying, “Where there is harmony between people, the Father in heaven will bring promotion and rewards!”

D. In Matthew 4 As Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Spirit, and Satan came and tested Him ‘Jesus’ stayed in agreement with His Father through His confessions and actions of faithfulness in the word of God!

E. How do we respond unto verbal, Spiritual and physical assaults? Do we try to defend ourselves? Do we try to defend this church? News flash, this is Jesus’ church! Listen, our responds shows our true level of maturity!

F.Once at a church in Florida, One family controlled this church and in the natural the church needed this family to intervene. I remember one thing that stood out in my mind because I’ve done the same thing. This family had been lied on,and accused by another church. I’ve never forgotten how this family told me they defended themself! ( Remember,God doesn’t need defending!)

G.Look at Acts 9:36-40 Peter had to get non-agreement out of the house, and notice how Peter turns around quickly to stay in agreement 36). At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. 37 But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 38 And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

H.Acts 2:1-4, 13-19 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 13Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

H.We just need to agree with what God has already said through out His word, and allow Him to fill and consume everything! For if He isn’t doing it, do we really want to be a part of it?
