Luke 21:25-36 Advent

1. It’s an great time to turn to God. That’s Advent

• The word Advent means “coming” and it is the time each year in which we prepare ourselves for the arrival of Jesus at Christmas. We’re invited to come or turn to Jesus

• We are invited to look forward in hope. To put our faith in Jesus, not in ourselves.

• We are invited to believe that God really has come in human form to heal us, help us, provide for us, and save us.

2. The message of Advent is that Christ is coming.

• Jesus is nothing less than the Prince of Peace, the One who is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

• He is the One who shows us the abundance of God’s steadfast love for us, and the desire of God to save us from anything that can hurt or destroy us.

3. Advent tells us He’s Coming Again, But before He Comes

• There will be signs to warn us violent storms, hurricanes, heat, sun, moon, and stars

• Nations will be in chaos’s, caused by the urge for power and control, and wealth

• Before the coming of the son of God scriptures teach us there will be a great falling away, people will be lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God. People will listen to false precepts or false prophets.

• God is just an imagination and that’s it. God is myth.

4. Since, We are in the season of Advent so what do we do?

• Keep calm, carry on, and keep hoeing

• Keep calm you can’t rush nor can you stop the appearing. No matter we can’t change it

• Keep calm the psalmist says, “ I have set the Lord before me, because of this I will not be shaken or nerved.

• John said, when Jesus left “ Peace I give unto you let not your heart be troubled keep calm

5. So what do we do before the next Advent or coming we Carry on

• Carry on soldiers of the Lord carry on meditating on the word of God

• Carry on gathering “ Fail not the assembling of yourselves especially as you see that day approaching”.

• Keep on mission- Ing ? “ Go make disciples, baptizing in the name of the father of the so. and of the holy spit”.

• Carry on witnessing of the Good news the whole news the news that brings people wholeness.

6. Finally, So what do we do before the next Advent keep hoeing

• Saint Frances of Assisi was hoeing his garden when someone asked him if he were suddenly told the end of the world was coming tomorrow what would you do. His response, “ I would finish hoeing my garden”.

• Advent tells us He’s coming There will be signs and wonders, roaring’s and tossing of the sea, people will faint from terror, but the redeemed will stand up and lift up their heads because their redemption is near.

• Advent tells us He’s coming like Saint Francis of Assisi we need to finish hoeing my garden, St. Francis is saying take care of, guarding the garden.

• Our garden is Our souls keep cleaning the stuff that doesn’t belong, keep protecting or guarding the garden, animals get in the garden and feast so we have to guard against the animals
