Introduction
We often put too much emphasis on the future, thinking that our plans are the best for us, without even considering the Lord’s will.
This is arrogant.
[TEXT] James 4:13-17
[CT] When we pursue the future without striving to do God’s will, we practice arrogance. Some areas of selfish pursuit that we need to avoid are:
I. The Pursuit of Popularity - Genesis 11:1-9
The Tower of Babel - they wanted to make a name for themselves
Their arrogance made them pursue the ridiculous
II. The Pursuit of Wealth - Luke 12:16-21
The Parable of the Rich Businessman
His arrogance made him worldly riches
III. The Pursuit of Power - Acts 8:9-13, 18-24
Simon the Sorcerer
His arrogance brought him to the conclusion that he could be better than others
Conclusion
"I don’t know about tomorrow…"
"Seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto to you"
"Lord, I care not for riches, neither silver nor gold…"
