Summary: Your voice can help another generation so our children and grandchildren will have the hope

Your Voice for the Next Generation Text: Exodus 12:26-27

When your children shall say to you. What do you mean by this service? 27.You shall say, it is the sacrifice of the Lord’s Passover, for He passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt when He slew the Egyptians but spared our houses. And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.

God fully intended for every Israelite to remember this new day-this New Year for the redeemed! That New Year’s Eve night was a night like no other! There would be a strange silence, terror, and screaming through out Egypt!

On that New Years Eve God’s people would experience redemption! Every time a new year rolled around, they would be reminded of what happened to them, and their forefather’s way back in Egypt, when God sent the death angel, and delivered them from Egyptian bondage.

God designed and master created you to become a voice and influence into this next generation! Your words and actions are powerful! Listen, little feet and hands are watching you when you don’t realize it! You were created to be His voice; He designed you to sing a new song and to be fruitful and Spiritually gifted! Think about this, God blew His breath of life within you! (He personally invested in you!)

One of the most important events in Jewish history is the Exodus, when God freed His people from the bondage of Egypt!

The Israelites were commanded to eat a special meal called the Passover!

As an act of judgment upon the Egyptians, God said that He would strike down every firstborn son, but He would pass over the houses that had the blood of a lamb on the top and sides of the door fame!

To commemorate this act of judgment and grace, God’s people would share in the Passover meal!

In Exodus 12:26 God said that one day a generation would say, “…What do you mean by this service?”

God did not want anything about this story of the Grand Exodus or the Passover to be forgotten! They in return become responsible to retell the story!

Psalm 78:4,6-7 We will not hide them from their children,

Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,

And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. 6 That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children. 7 That they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;

I am concerned about our generation because just last week 22% of Americans attended church. I’m concerned about the baby boomers not attending church. I’m concerned that their children might not know God!

Not only am I concerned about the unchurched, but also I am concerned about our children.

I thank God they are gaining knowledge through programs but they have to experience salvation and experience the wonder working power of God!

When Joshua and the children of Israel crossed over the river Jordan God instructed Joshua to place stones in an exact location for a memorial! (Men spend millions on memorials!) Why? For the next generation!

Joshua 24:14-16 “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” 16 So the people answered and said: “Far be it from us that we should forsake the LORD to serve other gods;

Matthew 28:18-19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Why do you think God gave you vocal cords, a mouth and a voice! (Lets empower our children to serve God!)

Unless our children are jumping up and down on the organ or piano let’s empower our children by saying yes you can!

God wants us to remember-who we are! (Eph. 1:3-4)

God wants us to remember- what Christ has done for us! (Eph. 1:7)

God wants you to share your new life and new land!
