Matthew 2:12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
Here we have a familiar story of the wise men presenting gifts to the baby Jesus. Here we also have the story of dreams being told.
But we are not going to talk about that. We are going to talk about the moment at hand. It’s time to pack your bags.
I want everyone to take that bag you have beside you and we are going to fill it with some good things. We first have to empty that bag you have been struggling with – full of things that are so easily besetting you.
Now, everyone take that bag and place it in front of you. Now unlock the bag and open it real wide. Now, let’s see what items you have saved. I say saved because we all accumulate things. Things that we no longer need. Our houses are a catch all for things that we no longer use or need. This house (point to self) is a catch all for things that we no longer use or need.
Now carefully take your bag and slowly, slowly now empty your bag. Don’t shake it, for there is an item that needs to stay in the bag. It is a small item but it is vitally important for your salvation.
Now back to the scripture:
And being warned of God in a dream
Who here likes to dream?
For the Word says:
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
In these last days, we have see what was prophesied of and promised and you ought to expect it and not be surprised at, desire it, welcome it, not disputing it, and take notice of it. Every prophecy is for a reason and must be noted in our minds. Every tongue and interpretation is a message from God.
The Holy Ghost will be poured out on all flesh –whether they are full of adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:
Now look at the bag of contents you poured out. Some of you maybe don’t have what I mentioned, for you are filled with the Holy Ghost, but some of you, and me included maybe have some things that shouldn’t be in the bag.
Let’s see, I see in my bag a little low self esteem and maybe a little doubt.
Now let’s see what is at the bottom of my bag. Remember when I told you not to shake the bag? I also told you that there was a very little item in that bag.
Everyone reach down and search in the corner of the bag and hold up the item you find there. Now I know this seems like foolshiness to you but please play along for the Lord will show something beautiful.
Now that small item you hold in your hand is a mustard seed. We could go into a lot about this seed but there is an over looked aspect of that seed that we never think about.
What good is a seed if it is never planted?
The Bible says:
Ezekiel 17:5 He also took of the seed of the land and planted it in a fruitful field. He placed it by great waters and set it as a willow tree.
And it grew and became a spreading low vine, whose branches turned toward him. And its roots were under him. So it became a vine and brought out branches and shot out boughs.
There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. And behold, this vine bent its roots toward him and shot out its branches toward him, that he might water it, away from the beds of its planting.
It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring out branches, and that it might bear fruit, to be a splendid vine.
It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring out branches, and that it might bear fruit, to be a splendid vine.
Take that seed and plant it in the good ground.
(Go to various saints and the Pastor) Luke 8:8 And other fell on good ground and sprang up, and bore fruit a hundredfold. And when He had said these things, He cried, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Now here’s the thought from the Lord:
This little seed, this mustard seed was planted in the good ground and look what grew on the branches, for you see mustard in it’s purest form can even kill e. coli in meat.
