Summary: A message of encouragement during discourage times.

Introduction: We find Mary and other women on the way to the tomb to anoint Jesus with spices. They went believing that something was going to happen, but as they went they still were wrestling with some issues. They were dealing with stones and how they keep us from getting to Jesus. But we found that if we seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, God will take care of the stones. God sent an angel to minister that Sunday morning. What did the angel say?

1. Peace (vs. 6a)-“Be not affrighted”

When facing the stones of life, we must understand that God can take care of them. The angel lets them know to have peace and not be afraid. What has you scared right now? Terrorist attacks, a doctor’s appointment, or maybe unpayable bills, these may seem to be unmovable stones but God will take care of them. Because God will take care of them don’t be afraid.

2. Power (vs. 6b)-“He is risen!”

The angels let Mary and the other women know that God is true to his promise. When we face our difficult days we must know and believe that God is true to His word. Just like Jesus said He will rise on the third day, he also says He will never leave you or forsake you.

3. Position (vs. 6c)-“He is not here”

The angels declared this to women because their faith had Him still dead. Where does your faith have Jesus? If your faith does not have Jesus alive and well, I say to you “He is not here”. Sometimes are problem is we try to find Jesus where He is not.

4. Promise (vs. 7)-“Ye shall see him”

The angel lets you know if you don’t give up you will see Him. Faith declares if you don’t give up you will see Him. I declare from the authority of His word if you don’t give up you will see Him. “Be not weary in well doing, for in due season you shall reap, if you faint not” Galatians 6:19

Conclusion: The message giving to the angels encouraged them to go tell the disciples. The Sunday morning message gave them the confidence to proclaim the message to unbelieving disciples. Will you let this message do the same for you?
