Judges 4:16 But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; [and] there was not a man left. Judges 4:17 ¶ Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for [there was] peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.Judges 4:18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle. Judges 4:19 And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him. Judges 4:20 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No. Judges 4:21 Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

INTRO: Tonight Lord willing I want to talk to you about over coming the enemy. For you see there is a Stranger in our bedchamber.

I. The Law!

A. In order to under stand the text we must first know that in Bible times it was unlawful for a man to into in the tent or bedchamber of a women except her husband. If caught it was punishable by death for it was a defilement of the Bride and the bed chamber for only the husband was allowed in the bed chamber every one else was a stranger.

II. The spiritual side of the story.

A. You see we are the bride of Christ.

B. 1 Corinthians 3:16 ¶ Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? Therefore we are the bedchamber to our Lord.

C. There fore any other is a stranger whatsoever is not of our Lord is a Stranger and has no place in His bedchamber.

III. There are two types of Strangers those “We invite” and those that “Break in”

A. We will start with the first, which are strangers we invite in. And that of course is sin or worldliness.

1. John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

2. Running to evil instead of resisting it. James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

3. Delighting in gossip Mark 7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man., secular entertainment, etc..

4. 1 Corinthians 6:9 ¶ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

5. 1 Corinthians 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

6. 1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

7. Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

8. When we begin to allow the things of this world in our lives we find our selves trying to serve two masters… which we cannot do for we will love one and hate the other… For our Lord is a jealous God and will have no other beside Him.

9. 1 Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which [temple] ye are.

IV. But also there are those strangers that come in that we invite not.

A. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.
