Contributed by Dan Morrison on Jul 25, 2002 (message contributor)
Summary: Left Behind? I don’t think so! A brief Bible Sutdy on the Second Coming of Jesus
A second look at the Second Coming; A BRIEF BIBLE STUDY ON THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH;
My view: The Pre Wrath View; That Jesus will rapture the Church after the Great Tribulation but before He pours His Wrath out. Thus the Pre Wrath view.
Why this view? Could not support any other view with Scripture.
Some serious questions that must be address if you hold the Pre-Tribulation view, or the Mid Tribulation view or the Post Tribulation view.
a. Can Jesus come at any moment? Support with Scripture if you hold this view. Some serious problems; The regathering of Israel; (1948); The rebuilding of the Temple; Implied because of Matt. 24 (the abomination of desolation in the Temple) (not built yet); The revealing of the Anti Christ; (2 Thes. 1-8); The great Tribulation; (Matt. 24:21 and following);
b. Who is the one who restrains? If this is the Holy Spirit then how do the ones get saved in Chapter 5 of Rev. See next point.
c. Who are the ones in Rev. chapter 5? Where did they come from? How did they get saved?
d. Who are the elect in Matt? 24?
e. Where does it say the Tribulation period is seven years in the Bible?
f. Where in the Bible does it say that tribulation and wrath of God are the same thing?
Serious questions that must be answered if you want to have a Biblical view of the Second Coming of Christ. Let’s look at an outline of the endtime events ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE.
I. Daniel 9:24-26 Daniel 9:24-26
"Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. [25] "So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. [26] "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
69 weeks completed; One week of years left. According to scripture what are the last seven years of history called?
a. The tribulation period?
b. The Wrath of God?
c. The 70th week?
II What events need to take place before the 70th week begins?
a. The rebuilding of the Temple? (Implied in Dan 9:26; and Matt. 24:15; the Holy Place is in the Temple, and Jesus has said it would be torn down earlier in the chapter.);
b. The signing of the covenant? Dan. 9: 26?
c. The Anti-Christ revealed? 2 Thes. 2:1-8?
d. The Great Tribulation? Matt. 24:21-31
e. Nothing
