A Right Relationship with God

Romans 12:1-2

I. Dedicate Your Body to Him in Worship (v. 1)

a. Motivated by Mercy

i. To humble ourselves before Him (Psalm 5:7)

ii. To be thankful for His salvation (Psalm 13:5)

iii. To praise His deliverance in troublesome times (Psalm 59:16-17)

iv. To constantly recognize His grace and forgiveness (Psalm 86:13)

b. Spiritually Serving through Sacrifice

i. With gladness (Psalm 100:2)

ii. With singular devotion (Luke 4:5-8; Matthew 6:24)

iii. With a desire for God’s honor toward us (John 12:25-26; Romans 14:18)

II. Dedicate Your Mind to Him in Submission (v. 2)

a. Not Conforming to this World

i. In the lusts of men (1 Peter 1:14; 1 Peter 4:2)

ii. In the blind methods of the world (2 Corinthians 4:1-4)

b. Becoming Transformed by Spiritual Renewal

i. In restoration of salvation’s joy (Psalm 51:10, 12)

ii. In focusing on what is good (Philippians 4:8)

iii. In daily dying (1 Corinthians 15:31; 2 Corinthians 4:16; Luke 9:23; 2 Corinthians 4:10)

iv. In seeking after God’s will (Ephesians 5:8-10, 17)

Matthew 6:24— 24"(A)No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other You cannot serve God and [a](B)wealth.

John 12:25-26— 25"(A)He who loves his life loses it, and he who (B)hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. 26"If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and (C)where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will (D)honor him.

Romans 14:18— 18For he who in this way (A)serves Christ is (B)acceptable to God and approved by men.

1 Peter 1:14— 14As (A)obedient children, do not (B)be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your (C)ignorance,

1 Peter 4:2— 2(A)so as to live (B)the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the (C)will of God.

2 Corinthians 4:1-4— 1Therefore, since we have this (A)ministry, as we (B)received mercy, we (C)do not lose heart, 2but we have renounced the (D)things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or (E)adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth (F)commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3And even if our (G)gospel is (H)veiled, it is veiled to (I)those who are perishing, 4in whose case (J)the god of (K)this world has (L)blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the (M)light of the gospel of the (N)glory of Christ, who is the (O)image of God.

Psalm 51:10, 12— 10(A)Create in me a (B)clean heart, O God,

And renew a (C)steadfast spirit within me.

12Restore to me the (A)joy of Your salvation

And sustain me with a (B)willing spirit.

Philippians 4:8— 8Finally, brethren, (A)whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

1 Corinthians 15:31— 31I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, (A)I die daily.

2 Corinthians 4:16— 16Therefore we (A)do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our (B)inner man is (C)being renewed day by day.

Luke 9:23— 23And He was saying to them all, "(A)If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.
