A PUSH-SHOVE WORLD?

Did you hear about the lady that prayed and asked God to bless her garden? Then she complained about having to hoe out the weeds. Then she complained about how hot it was? Then she complained about having to pick the tomatoes and the beans? Then she complained she had to wash the quart jars. The she complained about how hot the kitchen got while she was canning?

DOES THE WORLD REVOLVE AROUND MONEY? DOES MONEY MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND?

Money is an illusion of power. Money can lead to GREED, selfishness and unthankfulness.

1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

The Bible requires THANKFULNESS. The Bible is not anti-money. The Bible clearly warns against making money/wealth an IDOL. How thankful am I? Are we rich in the world? Is our heart rich toward God. Riches can be dangerous. The love of money can choke out the LOVE OF GOD. Chasing rainbows GOD WEALTH IS CONTENTMENT, DEVOTION, FAITHFULNESS, and GOOD DEEDS. Are we searching for materialism?

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

UNTHANKFULNESS COUNTS WHAT I DON’T HAVE? DO I GIVE THANKS?

*MATERIALISM: the tendency to consider material possessions and physical comfort as more important than spiritual values. How much money would you have to have to be considered RICH? Income? Net worth? DO WE CONSIDER YOU CANNOT BORROW YOURSELF RICH.

We have to learn to spend less than we earn. We all have seen the man on TV that says if he made the minimum payment on the $1,800.00 he already owes it would take him 59 years to be debt free.

The Rockefeller’s were wealthy millionaires. One was asked: HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH TO BE RICH? He answered: ONE MORE DOLLAR! DO WE APPRECIATE THE BLESSING WE HAVE? DO WE COUNT RICH as having a great deal of money, assets, plentiful, abundant, great possessions, resources.

DO WE DESIRE TO BE RICH AND FAMOUS? IS WEALTH EXTERNAL? OR IS IT INTERNAL? How about being steady, hardworking… JACOB SEES ISSACHAR AS STRONG BONED DONKEY? IS THIS NEGATIVE?

ISSACHAR: donkey? Reward? Preserve? He will repair? Gift from God. Issachar is Jacob’s 9th son.

Genesis 30:18 And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.

Named a Hireling? Is this a reward? God honors the quiet thankfulness of Issachar. Jacob rewards and grants his son a special blessing for his attitudes. JACOB’S DEATH BED PROPHECY SEES HIS 9TH SON IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT.

Genesis 49:14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens: 15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.

On Jacob’s deathbed, JACOB CALLS HIS 9TH SON: STRONG BONED DONKEY. Donkey is associated with persistence and faithfulness --- this is a DEEP PROPHECY. The donkey was a symbol of silent labor, hardworking, meekness. Strong bones metaphor. He was not known as star, like Judah, or a leader like Joseph. Issachar was faithful worker under massive burdens.

LET US RECALL JESUS TRIUMPHAL VISIT TO JERUSALEM WAS ON A DONKEY.

THE BIBLE LOOKS AT THANKFULNESS --- UNTHANKFULNESS --- RICH OR WEALTH DIFFERENTLY THAN HUMANITY SEES IT.

We live in a PUSH-SHOVE WORLD. Seems the world demands PUSH. We are supposed to be different. The call of God is PULL. Instead of CLIQUES being selfish and exclusive we must grow inclusive and caring.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2 (MSG) Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law.

THE BIBLE SEES WEALTH AS: IN LOVE, GOOD WORKS, FAITH, DEEP KNOWLEDGE OF GOD. A THANKFUL HEART IS ALWAYS RICH.

Matthew 14: 19 Jesus takes the 5 loaves and two fishes --- JESUS GAVE THANKS…

Matthew 15: 15-36 Jesus takes the 7 loaves and fish --- JESUS GAVE THANKS…

Weren’t there 10, where is the 9? GREAT SPIRITUAL RICHNESS IS FOUND IN FORGIVENESS AND THANKFULNESS.

1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
