“A Mother’s Love Request”

By

Pastor M.L. Maughmer, Jr.

Matthew 20:20-20:24 “Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping [him], and desiring a certain thing of him. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but [it shall be given to them] for whom it is prepared of my Father. And when the ten heard [it], they were moved with indignation against the two brethren”.

Mark 3:17 “And James the [son] of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder”.

A Mother's Love

by

Helen Steiner Rice.

A Mother's love is something that no one can explain,

It is made of deep devotion, sacrifice and pain,

It’s endless and unselfish and enduring come what may

For nothing can destroy it or take that love away . . .

It’s patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,

And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking . . .

It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,

And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . . .

It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,

And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . .

A many splendored miracle man cannot understand another wondrous evidence

of God's tender guiding hand.

First I want to Thank God for my Mother Sharon Maughmer. She is a mother above all mothers as far as I am concerned. My father taught me how to me a man my mother taught me how to be a compassionate man. To my mother on this Mother's Day I say I Love You and thank you for all that you have deposited in me. I Love You Mom.

OPENING:- Mothers are very special creations, their love is unconditional, their patience unsurpassed, their understanding remarkable. Mothers have x-ray eyes that can see through walls and doors where the children are playing or are being especially quiet and are able to tell just what is going on. Mothers have, although you can’t see it, more than one set of hands, so that she can do many things for the family all at one time. Mothers have big hearts that allow her to love her family no matter what. Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the backyard instead of the drawer. Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.

Mothers have the energy of a nuclear reactor that appears to never get tired, because she can work all day at a job, fight traffic to get home, and when she gets home, she miraculously transforms into a cook, teachers, chauffeur, maid and wife. Mothers are doctors and nurses without ever going to med school, because she knows how to kiss the hurt away and nurse a weak man back to health. Mothers are minister that keeps the family before the throne of God, and she constantly intercedes for wayward family members, and through it all she is able to keep her sanity and good looks. Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years or grade, It’s marked by the progression from Mama to Mommy to Mom. Mothers have the ability to know that something is wrong with their child eventhough they may be separated by thousands of miles of ocean. Mothers sometimes ask, "Why me? in a moment of despair" and get a smile put on their face when their answer comes from a little voice says, "Because I love you best."Mother’s are teachers even without that college degree, disciplinarians, and miracle workers, psychologists, counselors, chauffeurs, coaches, fan clubs, attentive audiences, listening ears, and awesome supporters. Mothers are the architect of personalities, crafters of vocabularies, and developers of attitudes. Mothers are soft voices saying, "I love you." and yet a firm hand that guides correctly. Mothers are a child’s first impression of God’s love.

Mothers are all of these things & much, much more. A Mother’s Love is so special that in the book of Isaiah God said “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” Isaiah 66:13.
