Summary: The question in this sermon is "What would you betray Jesus for?"

A KISS GOOD-BYE

Luke 22:48

(48) But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

In reading this verse of scripture, we find Jesus asking Judas a question?

"betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?"

Although we realize that Jesus knew and knows all things.

Yet Jesus still asked the question to Judas, "betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?"

He asked Judas this before Judas kissed him.

My question here is, why?

1. Why did he ask him the question?

2. Why did he ask him before he even kissed him?

I believe that the answer for Jesus posing that question was this.

He was given Judas an opportunity to change his mind of that which he was about to do.

You see, a lot of times, just before some betray Jesus, he will pose a question in our minds to give us the opportunity to make the right choice.

Now here is a man who had

· Walked with Jesus

· Was close to Jesus.

· One of his very 12-Desciples

And here we read where Jesus is saying,

"You’re going to just turn away from me after all this time?"

"You are just going to throw in the towel after all this time?"

"You are going to betray me with a kiss"?

Why did he ask Judas this question?

I feel it was a warning, an opportunity to make things right.

Maybe God is speaking to someone hear tonight.

Maybe there is someone here tonight that needs this verse of scripture.

Maybe there is someone here tonight that has or is possibly considering just giving Jesus

"A Kiss Good Bye."

Well, he is giving you that same opportunity he gave Judas, to reconcile and get your wrongs right maybe before you even follow through with them.

I never really looked at this scripture before in this light.

But we know that Jesus was and is

"All Knowing."

He knows your heart; he does not have to pose a question for his own knowledge.

But he will do so to give you the choice….

The opportunity to change your mind….

What are you going to do?

Are you at a place in your life of Rebellion?

Are you angry with your situation and or circumstances?

Are you at a place in your life of Disobedience?

Are you out of God’s will?

Are you walking in the Spirit or the flesh?

Are you going to,

"betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?"

Or are you ready to make your wrongs right?
