Summary: Have you ever thought of Rahab being a virtuous woman? She was saved because of her faithfulness. Was she perfect? No, but in the middle of a crisis she found her call. However Rahab is called a faithful woman.

A Faithful Woman- A Faithful Mother Proverbs 31:10-12

10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.

A cartoon showed a psychologist talking to his patient: "Let's see," he said, "You spend 50 percent of your energy on your job, 50 percent on your husband and 50 percent on your children. I think I see your problem."

TM A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it. Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long.

This concluding chapter contains two poems: 1. The wise King. 2. The excellent Wife.

More from a Proverbs 31,13-31- A virtuous women- Can be trusted, her husband is happy, she does her duties with pleasure, she rises early, she applies herself to her business, she’s a good manager, she provides for her family, she gives as she gets, she governs her words, her fear of God shows her genuine beauty.

The law of love and kindness is written in her heart. She shall rejoice in the world to come. She overcomes disappointments, she comfort’s others as she grows old, and her work is praised wherever she goes. Her children and husband call her praised!

Matthew Henry writes: This passage is to be applied to individuals, but may it not also be applied to the church of the living God, which is described as a virtuous spouse? God by his grace has formed from among sinful men and women, a church of true believers, to possess all the excellences here described.

A faithful mother means everything. Sometimes you read Proverbs 31, and you think, “Well I’m not the Proverbs 31 woman.” However let me remind you that this woman in Proverbs 31 does these things over a period of a lifetime.

Women, “If you love God you are on your way!” God’s word calls you- faithful.

Mothers are teachers. Mothers are disciplinarians. Mothers are cleaning ladies. Some mothers are gardeners & mowers of lawns. And most mothers understand that baking cookies is more important than washing windows, too.

Mothers are nurses, doctors, psychologists, counselors, chauffeurs, and coaches. Mothers are developers of personalities, molders of vocabularies, and shapers of attitudes. Mothers are soft voices saying, "I love you." And mothers are a link to God, a child’s first impression of God’s love.

Listen, faithfulness is a journey. Faithfulness isn’t an overnight success. If you want to call it an overnight success it’s a span of 50 plus years.

Hebrews 11:1-2AMP NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. 2For by [faith--trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report.

What am I speaking about this morning? A faithful woman, mother, wife and church body!

Listen to this Proverbs 31 woman in Hebrews 11: 29-31TM By an act of faith, Israel walked through the Red Sea on dry ground. The Egyptians tried it and drowned. 30By faith, the Israelites marched around the walls of Jericho for seven days, and the walls fell flat. 31By an act of faith, Rahab, the Jericho harlot, welcomed the spies and escaped the destruction that came on those who refused to trust God.

Have you ever thought of Rahab being a virtuous woman? She was saved because of her faithfulness. Was she perfect? No, but in the middle of a crisis she found her call.

Make this clear distinction in your heart: My faith is in Jesus, the Son of God, the Savior of the world. My faith isn’t even in my ability to believe in Jesus, because sometimes I won’t be able to perceive Him. Sometimes I won’t be able to feel Him. Sometimes I will have doubts. But faith isn’t in any of that. My faith is in His faithfulness.

Proverbs 31: 28-31 Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: 29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. 31 Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

For every virtuous woman- the result of her efforts is her best eulogy. (No need for any clergy to lie.)

Prayer.
