Most are familiar with the story of Samson, he was set apart to lived according to the vow of a Nasserite. However Samson turned out to be a Drunken, Deceptive Murderous Womanizer whom God Gave a Second Change. Thank God for his Grace.
Being a Nassertite meant taking no alcoholic Drink, no touching Dead things & no cutting his Hair (I have wondered how long Samson’s may have been! It was most likely about Three an a half feet, because hair stops growing or the ends die.)
The Nasserite life was not a legalistic life, but a life devoted and dedicated to God.
A leagistic religious life is easy because it give no choice, and most legalistic Christian turn out to be very judgemental of other chrisitans and sin.
Devotion to God is a personal choice and often costly and we may need to forgo want others take for granted, however, devotion/dedication grantees blessing.
Samson had A Miraculous Birth
Judges 13:1 Samson’s Birth was Miraculous, his mother’s womb was barren/dead/lifeless. The word/touch of God brought Life. Samson was born With Purpose & Mission to deliver and lead the people of God.
You as the people of God today have been Born Again with purpose and mission to your life, to worship God, work for God and to witness about God.
We often miss the Significance/Value of our Mission & Purpose by focusing on present results.
Remember what we do today has eternal consequences. SEED of the Word, of a Deed, of a Gift. The HEB 11 heroes of the faith may not haven seen what was promised but it Does not Devalue what they did.
We look for the instant; God know the end from the beginning Isa 46:10 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Samson Had A Blessed Life
Judges 13:24 Samson Blessed, as lived according to the vow, in relationship with his family Close to God Close to family.
I believe that our Consistent Commitment to the Call, Commands the Blessing of God
A devoted Life, see Acts 2:42, DAILY Devotion/Dedication to God will result in Blessing
Samson Had a A Spirit Lead Life
Judges 13:24 Samson Stirred By the Spirit, he went a found a wife. His choice was met with disapproval & confusion from his parents. Samson could let go of this woman because the Spirit Stirred Him, This turned out to be in God’s Plan! (Jesus in Wilderness) Judges 14:4 God Plan to deliver from philistines Judges 15:20 Samson Lead the people
God Looking for moment Judges 14:4 God is looking for a moment when he can deliver you.
When the Holy Spirit is stirring you to do something and people are disapproving even the Pastor, that is if you submit you spiritual life to the Pastor what do you do. Well stick with the Spirit but in a loving relationship with those who disapprove, the parents still support Samson. If you disapprove then trust, support and help the person if it works or does not work out.
Samson Empowered by the Spirit,
Judges 14:6, 19 15:14 The Spirit of the LORD came upon him in power
You are empowered by Holy Spirit in what you are called to do Zechariah 4:6 ’Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. HS in Witness, Word, Work Peter after Pentecost,
Not last resort, First Port of Call.
Samson’s Life Drifted Away
Judges 16 After 20 years service A distance came between Samson and Family/God Samson Looked again at prostitute and then Delilah, this time not Holy Spirit did not help him. Each time the Philistines came and Samson Killed them there is not mention of the Holy Spirit.
He used his God given power to maintain his sinful lifestyle. God has Given Gift / Talents lets use them only with a heart to honour and glorify God.
Samson had One More Touch Judges16:24 "O Sovereign LORD, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more,
God does not want to break us, we may mess up But does not want us to stay Messed Up wants us to Make Up with Him.
Today is your day to call for one more touch God is looking for a moment to overcome the enemy in your life.
