Summary: As Christians we are spoken of as soldiers in a war.
A Christian War
As Christians we are spoken of as soldiers in a war.
2 Timothy 2:3 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ”
What are we to fight against?
Eph. 6:12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
What we are warring against most of all are those things that are contrary to God’s ways. We fight powers, and spirits that contradict God’s work.
First, war against our self – an inward war against sin.
Romans 6
Romans 7:21-25
Like Baptism: As a whole, it is thought that it is not necessary but Christ said:
Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved, “but he who does not believe will be condemned.””
Like women teachers in the church and women in power positions.
And against they upsert the authority of men. (Politics)
I Cor. 14:
II Tim. 2:11 “For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him.”
Against babbling & divided assemblies in the church.
I Cor. 14:40 “Let all things be done decently and in order.”
Against philosophy and manly wisdom.
I Cor 3:18-21
I Cor 1:25-31
Against No Fault divorce.
Christ gave the exception of fornification.
Matt. 5:32 “whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery,”
Against men in high places who commit spiritual wickedness.
Just as John the Baptist did.
These men influence many and their wickedness needs to be pointed out as such so others won’t think it is okay.
Against sodomy, etc. (over gay liberation people need to be spoken against. Lewdness. This is the way it was at the destruction of Sodom.
Let us arm ourselves with God’s word and prepare for the battle.
This is what Christ used against Satan. (Matt. 4)
This then is also what we are to use.
The word of god is powerful.
Heb. 4:11-13
Let us therefore put on our armor of God as we read in Eph. 6:10-18.
Talent, little strength – must use it.
Story of talents – left us the Gospel.
Believe: John 3:10
