Contributed by Rodney Johnson Sr., on Jul 25, 2011 (message contributor)
Summary: Violence existed from the dawn of human history. The first child born to the human family was a murderer. Genesis begans with creation and ends in a coffin. The wages of sin began immediately after the fall.
In this chapter, we have the first of many things:
The first brothers
The first offerers
The first offering
The first parents
THe first home
The first man
The first lady
The first youth worship
The first blood crying from the ground
The first body recommited to the dust.
The first record of death
The first man to see death
The first weeping parents over death.
The first fugitive.
The death of Cain had no externals to blame. There were no rappers, no gang violence, no cultural issues, no race problems, no social problems, no dead beat dads, no educational issues; the only thing present was a sinful heart. Consider the following in regards to Cain killing his brother:
I. THE RUIN OF SIN
II. THE REJECTION BY GOD
III. THE REFUSAL OF GOD'S STANDARDS
IV. THE REPLACEMENT OF GOD BY SATAN
V. THE REVEALING OF AN INFERIOR COMPARISON.
VI. A REBELLIOUS SPIRIT.
VII. THE REACTION OF A GODLESS MAN.
VIII. THE REVISITATION TO CALVARY. (Learn how Jesus defeated violence)
A. He Restrained His power.
B. He prayed for His enemies.
C. He endured the shame of the cross.
D. He rendered good for evil.
E. He revealed the hatred that was in the heart of man.
F. He died to saved us from ourselves.
Conclusion: Violence is condition of the human heart apart from God.
