Inheritance Of The Meek Series

Mt. 5:5 (KJV) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Philips: Happy are those who claim nothing, for the whole earth will belong to them!

J. Upton Dickson, wrote a book called “Cower Power,” he was thinking about founding a society called D.O.O.R.M.A.T.S. "Dependent Organization Of Really Meek And Timid Souls” The society would adopt a yellow caution light as their logo, and using Matthew 5:5, the D.O.O.R.M.A.T.S.’ motto would be, “The meek shall inherit the earth…if that’s okay with everybody.” Of course, the society didn’t last very long because Upton gave up the plan when someone objected!

Meekness?

- Broken in spirit focuses on my sinfulness.

- Meekness focuses on God’s holiness.

- Broken in spirit is negative and results in mourning.

- Meekness is positive and results in seeking righteousness.

- Meekness is power under control (under the control of the HS)

9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

Psalm 37:11 (AV)

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

It takes courage to inherit the earth

David’s Meekness

Opportunity to take the kingdom from Saul

- Is not out for his own interest

- Is not on the defensive

- Is not feeling sorry for himself
