Come Up Hither Series

Summary: At the end of the Church age there is prophetic truth taught and that is there will be a rapture and John describes it here.
Come Up Hither
Revelation 4:1-3
Chapter 1 speaks of the past and 2 and 3 is this present age so everything from chapter 4 and on primarily speaks of future events.
Rev. 4:1 After this (after the church age)
Mention: Rev. 1:19 John was told to write the things which he hast seen, the things which are and the things which shall be hereafter.
There are three things I want us to see in these few verses; A Door, A Voice and A Throne.
1. A Door
Vs.1 And behold a door was opened in heaven
See: Ezekiel 1:1 the heavens were opened
Mention: John 10:7 I am the door of the sheep, Vs.9 I am the door; by me if any man enter in he shall be saved
See: Matt. 25:1-13 The door was shut
That door will shut one day to everyone who have heard the gospel message and has rejected it! Ref. 2 Thessa. 2:11-12
“A door was opened in heaven”
2. A Voice
Rev. 4:1 And the first voice I heard was as it were of a trumpet…
“As it were”
See: Exodus 19:9, 16-19
Also: Exodus 20:18-19
I have heard songs that indicate an angel will sound a trumpet, but I’m not sure that is what will happen.
See: 1 Cor. 15:51-52 At the last trump for the trumpet shall sound
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump”
Compare this to what John says “Immediately I was in the spirit”
See: 1 Thessa. 4:16 The Lord Himself…
Mention: Numbers 10:1-3 Trumpets were used by the nation of Israel to assemble the people
Mention: Rev. 4:1 The first voice I heard was as it were of a trumpet
Mention: John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow Me
3. A Throne
Vs.2 And behold a throne was set in heaven
Mention: Isaiah 66:1 Heaven is My throne
See: Rev. 3:21 to sit with Me in my throne
I know there are some questions concerning who is it the will be sitting upon the throne, God the Father or God the Son?
See: Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son He saith, thy throne O God, is forever and ever…
Jesus said that all judgment is given unto Him by the Father and I certainly believe it will be Jesus who will sitting upon the throne be God the Father no man can look upon and live.
Vs.3 He that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone
The description of Jesus using these precious stones is probably the best vocabulary John has to describe the indescribable.
See: Ezekiel 1:26
Ezekiel 1:28 The appearance of a bow
Rev. 4:3 “There was a rainbow”
The rainbow represents the mercy of God!
Mention: Genesis 9:13-17 The bow set as a covenant between God and man
Mention: Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness we have done but according to His mercies He have saved us…
