7 MILES? DEAD FISH TRAVEL DOWN STREAM!

WE ARE WALKING SAD… WE HAVE LOST HOPE… WE KNEW WE HAD FOUND THE ANSWER! BUT OUR DREAMS HAVE BEEN DASHED…

WE INVESTED OUR EMOTIONS AND ACTIONS AND NOW LOOK… WE ARE BASKET CASES…

Luke 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

There were many broken hearts as A RUN AWAY SPIRIT called: Let us get away from here. Emmaus was about a seven mile walk from Jerusalem. This was a painful journey. The discussion was of disappointments, hurts and a crushed spirit. TWO MEN WERE FOCUSED ON THE NEGATIVE.

Negative people speak negative messages.

Luke 24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

Luke 24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

NEGATIVE BASKET CASES LET THEIR EMOTIONS PLAY GAMES WITH THEIR MINDS AND HEARTS… THEY ARE WALKING AWAY FROM ALL OF JESUS’ TEACHING BECAUSE THEIR EMOTIONAL GAMES ARE DESTROYING WHAT THEY KNEW WAS TRUTH.

There are several subjects that I bring up that have the tendency to anger some. One word is SUBMISSION. Another word is EMOTIONS. Emotions play head games… WE TRAIN OUR KIDNEYS, OUR BOWELS. We learn to ride bicycles and drive cars. BUT SOMEHOW WE REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT WE NEED TO DISCIPLINE AND CONTROL OUR EMOTIONS.

Luke 24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

So you have it so bad? God has left you with NO HOPE? Will you agree with me these two men are self-made basket cases?

THE BASKET CASE SYNDROME DISTORTS THE VISION OF PEOPLE SO THAT THEY HANG THEIR HEADS AND FOCUS ON THE PROBLEMS, PAINS AND DISAPPOINTMENTS… BASKET CASES RECRUIT OTHER BASKET CASES… HAVEN’T YOU HEARD? LET ME TELL YOU THE BAD NEWS?

Luke 24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

AS THEY WALK WITH THEIR HEADS DOWN AND THEIR EYES CLOSED --- THESE TWO MEN ARE TRYING TO SHARE THEIR DISCOURAGEMENT.

THE TWO BASKET CASES GO DEEPER INTO THE EMOTIONAL DARKNESS. THEY MAKE A DECLARATION OF FULL BLOWN DOUBT --- WE USE TO TRUST --- TRUSTED IS PAST TENSE.

Luke 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done.

We are 3 days from the death of our hopes caused by the cross --- We had our hopes that Jesus was going to deliver us. WE HAD HOPED… GOING, GOING, GONE! 3 DAYS LATE? WE ARE BASKET CASES… OUR TRUST IS HISTORY?

THE BASKET CASE MEN ARE HAPPY TO BE SAD EVEN WHEN THEY HAD HEARD THE GOOD NEWS… BASKET CASES WOULD RATHER PLAY MORE EMOTIONAL GAMES THAN HEAR THE GOOD NEWS… THE GOOD NEWS IS THE BAD NEWS IS NOT TRUE.

Those determined to be basket cases kind love TO TELL IT LIKE IT WAS.

Luke 24:22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; 23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

The two made a willful choice to accept the bad news! Jesus taught them what was going to happen. Then they refused the WOMEN’S GOOD NEWS. Then there was another eye witness’ report, NO THEY WOULD RATHER ACCEPT the basket case view and RUN AWAY… 7 MILES DEAD FISH CAN TRAVEL DOWN STREAM.

CORRECTED? CAN YOU BE CORRECTED? WILL BASKET CASES STAY BASKET CASES?

Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

OPEN YOUR EYES, SEE JESUS --- JESUS COMES THROUGH THEIR DOUBT AND FEARS --- YOU ARE NOT A BASKET CASE… 7 MILES AWAY, GET BACK TO JERUSALEM?

Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

THE DOUBTERS--- THE RUN AWAYMEN , THE GET AWAY MEN--- BEAT JESUS BACK TO JERUSALEM… GOD CHANGES BASKET CASE PEOPLE TO PROCLAIM GOOD NEWS…
