The History of Laodicea:

Colossians 1:7-8 "You learned this from Epaphras, our dearly loved fellow slave. He is a faithful servant of the Messiah on your behalf and he has told us about your love in the Spirit." (HCSB)

Laodicea: received its water supply through an aqueduct system.

1) Jesus describes the Condition of Laodicea! Vs. 15-16 "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth." (NIV)

Lukewarm: is the thing that makes the Lord Jesus sick!

2 Timothy 3:5 "Holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. AVOID THESE PEOPLE!" (HCSB)

Question: Is this Calvary?

2) Jesus Condemns Laodicea! Vs. 17 "You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked." (NIV)

For they were Boastful about their Condition!

Ephesians 2:9 "... not from works, so no one can boast!" (HCSB)

For they were Blind to their Condition!

Romans 7:24 "What a wretched man I am!" (HCSB)

3) Jesus Commands Laodicea! Vs. 18 "I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see." (NIV)

To get down to business with Him!

John 6:53- 58

4) Jesus Encourages Laodicea! Vs. 19-20 "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." (NIV)

It is time to wake up, wise up, and do business with the Lord!

Ephesians 3:17a-19
