VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. GOD has not desired nor taken delight in sacrifices and offerings

"When He said just before, You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings"

Psalms 40:6 (Amplified Bible)

40:6 Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.

Hebrews 10:5 (Amplified Bible)

10:5 Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];

Mark 12:33 (Amplified Bible)

12:33 And to love Him out of and with all the heart and with all the understanding [with the faculty of quick apprehension and intelligence and keenness of discernment] and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Romans 8:3 (Amplified Bible)

8:3 For God has done what the Law could not do, [its power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power over all who accept that sacrifice],

GOD condemned His Son in the flesh so we can be the righteousness of GOD thru Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (Amplified Bible)

5:21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

B. These sacrifices and offerings are offered according to the Law

"all of which are offered according to the Law"

CHRIST is the fulfillment of the Law.

The Law's purpose are the following:

1. To reveal GOD's holiness

Romans 7:12-14 (Amplified Bible)

7:12 The Law therefore is holy, and [each] commandment is holy and just and good.

7:13 Did that which is good then prove fatal [bringing death] to me? Certainly not! It was sin, working death in me by using this good thing [as a weapon], in order that through the commandment sin might be shown up clearly to be sin, that the extreme malignity and immeasurable sinfulness of sin might plainly appear.

7:14 We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am a creature of the flesh [carnal, unspiritual], having been sold into slavery under [the control of] sin.

2. To render judgement

Romans 2:12 (Amplified Bible)

2:12 All who have sinned without the Law will also perish without [regard to] the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged and condemned by the Law.

Acts 23:3 (Amplified Bible)

23:3 Then Paul said to him, God is about to strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit as a judge to try me in accordance with the Law, and yet in defiance of the Law you order me to be struck?

3. To reveal sin

Romans 3:19-20 (Amplified Bible)

3:19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that [the murmurs and excuses of] every mouth may be hushed and all the world may be held accountable to God.
